Bleach: Hell Chapter (Burichi: Jigoku-hen)
December 4th, 2010 marked another milestone for the Bleach anime with it’s fourth featured movie. It was released on DVD in Japan on August 24th, 2011 and subbed and released online to the rest of the world soon after. Bleach movies always tend to be great and never disappoint to say the least and Bleach: Hell Chapter is the best we’ve seen so far.
Hell Chapter stars the hero of the Bleach Series, Ichigo Kurosaki, and his confrontation with the sinners of Hell. They wish to use his Full Hollowfied power to release their chains of Hell and destroy the Gates of Hell. In order to get his attention they kidnap his little sister, Yuzu, in order to lure him to Hell to fulfill their desire. So Ichigo, Rukia, Renji, and Uryu go to Hell with the aid of a sinner from Hell, Kokuto, whose real intentions for helping out aren’t explained till towards the end. With an interesting and creative story this is the best yet.
The amazing cast from the show all came for their reprising and recurring roles as the cast of Bleach. With, Masakazu Morita, once again taking the reigns of the Substitute Soul Reaper, Ichigo Kurosaki. This was an emotional story to say the least and Morita had the role of his life giving a series of emotions that were more than convincing and really got you into it even more than the show ever could. Easily the best performance this cast has ever put on and superb work by Morita.
The last thing that stuck out in my mind was the great animation. Best animation for any Bleach movie thus far. Tite Kubo’s rendition of Hell is both creative and terrifying, just like it should be. The character animation is smooth and crisp, making this one of the best looking anime movies in recent years.
Easily the best Bleach movie to be released with one of the best anime movie stories, phenomenal voice acting, and crisp, clean animation. I’d probably be going out on a limb if I said this is one of the best anime movies I’ve ever seen, but you know what I’ll stand by that decision. This was one of the most entertaining, best looking anime movies, and hit every emotional level making this a great movie overall animated or not. So if you love Bleach no doubt you’ll love this movie. If you’re not than I still suggest you give it a watch, because you don’t have to be a fan of a series to enjoy a movie of this caliber.
