I know who tobi is
Tobi is obito and I will prove it this is a story of what I think happened
Tobi was left for dead or he died orchimaru stumbled uppon his body and decided to take it back to his lab to experiment on it.
Since his whole right side of his body was crushed he was probably injected with dna possibly madara since he probably came up with the moon eye plan.
One day orochimaru is discovered and obito manages to escape with another
child zetsu. The war and that experience of being experimented on orchimaru and madara dna in his body changed obito in a way he thought the only way was via the eye of the moon plan.
So about a year later of training etc... He decides to attack naruto
He clashes with minato at the time he is 14-15 anyway after a failed attempt of getting the nine tails one year later he goes to try for yagura the third tails jinchuriki
By this time obitio is around 15-16 and we can see some time has passed due to the change of his hair length so he succeeds.
Anyway somehow during the war he causes nagato to gain the rinnegan we dont know how a person gets this so I cant really elaborate but it was possibly the pain of seeing his parents killed right between his eyes
awakened it. Now you gotta ask yourself how could two ninja mistake civilians for ninja? Well obito probably cast a genjutsu on them which caused them to kill nagatos parents.
So the akatski is formed and obito sees them as a way of achieving his objectives so he sends zetsu to infiltrate to see what he can find out.
He later joins after zetsu and then that brings us up to date with the current events.
Question you might be asking?
Tobi was crushed by a boulder there is no coming back how can he live from that?

We have seen alot of serious injuries in naruto over the years
the rasengan which is an s class jutsu naruto has used countless of times on people and they have managed to survive so its possible he could have survived a boulder and even if he was killed he could have been easily brought back I mean look at chiyo she brought back gaara orchimaru could have found a technqiue able to revive him or something.
Tobi is way to young explain how he could have matched minato?
Itachi achived ms and age 12. He slaughtered the entire uchiha clan.
If he can do that at age 12 matching minato at age 14 or 15 is very possible
How do you know zetsu is one of orochimarus experiments?
His zuzuzu matches the one that when yamato used on of his wood style
in a manga chapter we know he got wood style from senju so its possible zetsu had some senju in him but has affected him differently.

Tobis skin on the left side of his face is extremely sagged this is caused when he was crushed by the boulder not all age if you look at other old characters you will see they dont have wrinkles like him.
In one of the naruto card games it says that zetsu hometown is konoha which supports my theory of him being fromt here and getting experiments by orchimaru.

and man, we really are suppose to have no clue on who tobi is
you cannot deny anything you said earlier, I think that is THE BEST GUESs
anyone could produce untill the unmasking..

I thought hard about what you are saying, but it
is the ages i'm worried about. wouldn't
you say that nagato and minato is around the same
age, so when did tobi/obito gave nagato the
rinnegan, so please try explaining that
possibility.

truly a splendid theory... but Chedahokage was
right though. because tobi said he's the one
who implanted the rinnegan on nagato. so it means
that tobi is older than nagato... so how come tobi
became obito, when obito is a student of minato
who's about in the same age of nagato...
and one more thing... i would'nt consider your theory about nagato awakened a rinnegan. since he dont have a blood of a senju nor an uchiha. just look at nagato's body. it just proves that his rinnegan were just implanted base on the side effect.
but still. your idea was great.

In my mind it would be more likely that Tobi would
be Itachis friend Sishui but in all likelihood
Tobi is a member of the Uchiha that has yet to be
mentioned in the series.

Its also very unlikely that Obito would have been
able to compete with the Fourth at all. To use
such high level techniques and survive the
encounter while controlling the Kyubi is very very
unlikely. Not to mention his knowledge of the
secret barrier around Konoha that he had to
penetrate. Itachi had help killing the Uchiha,
Tobi as the story goes. Zetsu was vreated from the
cells and DNA of Hashirama, thus the hometown of
Konoha. Also, typically the Uchiha possess one set
of abilities in one eye and another set of
abilities in the other eye. Noted by Sasuke and
Itachi first and foremost. If it was Obito then
his abilities would be parallel to Kakashis.

You know what will help us figure out who tobi
might possible be, is knowing when exactly did
madara died after the battle at the valley of the
end, so we can pin point or single out possible
ninjas in that time.
If anybody crack that code, then they deserve to be praise as a naruto god next to kishi.

Okay jiraya was around his 30s when he mate nagato and nagato must have been lets say 11-13 so if jiraya was 38 when he met the sanin and nagato was 12 he could be 25-27 also look at konan does she look like someone in her 40s to you no she looks actually quite young

Okay I mentioned above that look at itachi he slaughtered the uchiha clan age 13 he achieved mangekyou sharigan ate age 12 he was an anbu captain at age 13 itachi was already powerful enough to kill his clan and become an anbu captain it is very possible at age 14-15 that obito could have matched minato also your thinking how could he have got so powerful well orochimaru could have experimented in him probably inserting him with some of madaras dna it supports how he would have known the moon eye plan since in a manga chapter madara knows about it so we know the plan is quite old dating to madaras time he probably came up with it by himself or with someone elses
Sasuke killed orchimaru ate age 15 with ease one of the legendary sanin so it is possible that he could have matched minato and probably being his student he knew how to counter some of his attacks.
Also one we dont know alot about the mangekyou sharigan from what I can tell there is two different ways of awakening it the one kakashi and shisui used and the one madara and itachi used but what we can tell the affects are different depending on your method its possible tobi could have used the method kakashi used.
Also if you think about it it makes sense in his left eye if he still had it he could us kakashis techniques and although they arent they same they are similar so if what your saying applies for kakashi then if tobi would be able to teleport other things from a distance in his left eye if he had it and in his right teleport himself and what ever he touches in and out of the dimension
