The Many Things We have taken for Granted
It just dawned on me that I have been following Naruto for years now but I have never asked and no fan I know of has ever asked me about naruto's foster family. So who looked after naruto as a child and why does naruto never talk of his foster family if there ever was one?

well ... I understand Kishi specifically wanted it this way as it is important for the character's development so we understand him and why he is the way he is but it does also show that Konoha is a one messed up village to allow an infant to live alone with no adult supervision.

Quoting QuajoAll naruto's classmates don't live alone. Also what about before he joined the academy. Yes, I had assume the 3rd but naruto doesn't seem to have that sort of bond or love for the 3rd or the Sarutobi clan in general.
knowing naruto and how loyal he is to friends and family, he would have shown something in that regard. So far the only person that naruto talks fondly of and we can liken to a foster brother is Iruka who naruto only met at the academy.

Have you forgot about how other ninjas treat Jinchurikis, even in other villages? They are looked down, disgusted and treated like monsters. It is only Sarutobi Hiruzen who didn't mistreated Naruto even before Iruka did. O yeah, I forgot about Hyuuga Hinata

The fact that you don't mistreat a person doesn't mean that you are good to that person. The question is who took care of naruto prior to us seeing him living alone at the age of 11?

My answer is implied in my reply...nobody would be willing to take care of what they think is a monster unless it is ordered by Sarutobi Hiruzen. Assuming there is someone who took care of Naruto for a long time, it is also possible that he/she is killed during a mission which then leave Naruto living alone and does things to gain attention during his childhood. That "foster parent" could have died at the age when it is not remembered for long(in reality, most people remember memories from as early as 6 years old but some people can even remember events from as early as 4 years old).
