Quoting mrmcdonaldTheir are 2 tobi's trust there is no way obito could actually think he could beat his sensei who was so strong that the enemy had flee on sight orders If they saw him. He wasn't better than kakashi so I know fighting minato wasn't the first thing on his mind plus he wouldn't be surprised how fast minato was.[

Oh my god my head just exploded trying to understand wtf you are saying. I'm not trying to be grammar nazi but for god's sake man, at least try.
As for for the chapter, I am honestly disappointed that Obito was Tobi, what what REALLY pissed me off was that Kishi added NOTHING to our knowledge in chapter 599. Seriously, he took a whole fucking chapter to go from the mask being broken to Tobi being revealed. Quite frankly, I'm not sure why the fuck Kishimoto does this as it gives people zero reason to follow this manga weekly. Simply astonished by the laziness of it still; this was a new low.

Dude. Get the hell over it. So you have to potentially wait one more week to find out more information? Be glad it isn't like Soul Eater, where a chapter gets released every month or so. Better, be glad Kishimoto doesn't just give up on the manga now and leave everyone wondering whether it was actually Obito or not.
I, for one, liked the way he did this chapter. He gave even more insight into Obito's past, showed how he was connected with Guy and all of the others, suggested that Rin is somehow connected to something regarding Obito's ambitions now. I liked this chapter. You're just ungrateful.

Quoting choppachoppaTo say Obito was too young to lead the attack is foolish - he would have been about eighteen by the time, having had about four years to train after his supposed "death." If Naruto (now only 15/16) can go from complete idiot to one of the strongest characters in the series in the same amount of time, then it's entirely plausible for Obito to do the same. I'm still assuming he had some help though.

You are wrong. Obito is Kakashi's/Guy's age. If Kakashi/Guy are 30yrs now, subtract 16yrs from it and you get Tobi=Obito's age at the time he supposedly fought Minnato (30 - 16= 14).

I side with mrmcdonald with this. The masked man who fought Minnato wasn't the current Tobi. For one, even with Hashirama cells to boost Obito, he would have been too inexperienced to have put kurama under genjutsu and fought minnato on equal footing. Well.. to be frank the masked guy was no match for Minnato though.

For those who argue that naruto is a dimwit but at 16 is very strong. You forget that naruto is an uzumake and a junchuriki; Sasuke is a prodigy( likely a direct descendant of Madara). Even naruto only acts as a dimwit on purpose but in reality he is a very astute fighter. Not withstanding both naruto and Sasuke have being training for years under very good masters.

On the other hand, Obito was not gifted; a perpetual loser who only awakened his sharingan on the same day he supposedly died. I assume Obito died at about age 11 or 12 and 2years later he comes to konoha to fight Minnato. Weird?

But I trust Kishi, I hope he makes it convincing. I still have some inconsistencies that I need explanation for though.

You're actually just "assuming" Obito isn't gifted and has no potential. Look at Naruto, he was horrible at his young age, especially for an Uzumaki and Jinchuriki. All he did was spam Kage Bunshin and let his anger get the best of him. Once Jiraiya stepped in, everything changed. Who are you to say Obito isn't gifted, have you seen his Kamui abilities? It makes Obito seem invincible. Naruto couldn't even lay a finger on "Tobi" due to Kamui without Kakashi's help. It's plausible for Obito to have had an Uchiha master, cough, a relation to Madara.
Every Uchiha has their own special Mangekyo. Shisui has his manipulative genjutsu, Itachi has his Tsukuyomi, and Obito has his Kamui. The "Tobi" that fought Minato was using Kamui. No one else besides Obito and Kakashi have that ability.

Naruto even as an academy student defeated mizuki (a chunin). Naruto did not lose any of his chunin exam fights. The reason why naruto's classmates at the academy seemed to be better than him was because he had no one(family) to tutor him at home. Sasuke for example had Itachi. The others also had family they learnt from.

Yes it is possible that Obito with body modifications and extensive training within about a 2yr period could have become the masked guy who fought Minnato. But that is too much a stretch.

Another question is why would anyone go to the trouble to save Obito when he had not shown any incredible potential beforehand. So there is more to this. Unless that person knew about Obito's heritage or something.

Well... we will see.

obito was actually 13 when he died, its a year later when TOBI fought minato.. do you think for 1 year he can achieve all of that skill? what i think if he really saved and rescued by someone he maybe still in his recovery stage. and you if you still want to push your theories that the masked man who fought minato is obito, then he is really insane man, for 1year he achieved all of that? what more after 2years? what more after 3years? what more after Fourteen Years? can you imagine? LOL Obito might be stronger than a super saiyan 3 son gokou who can destroy a whole big planet in an instant abit exaggerated and unreal, just sharing my insights
