but if you want to know about the Rinnegan all i can say is it came from Nagato, and he is from the Uzumaki Clan just like Naruto they are from the blood line of the Great Sage... which is more powerful depends on the wielder they say but to my Opinion its the Rinnegan.

IT DOES NOT MATTER if a genjutsu is auditory or ocular I keep tellin you that. The result are the same it just a disturbance in your chakra network n anyone can be put in it but they have to have the skill good enough HP to dispel it. Itachi got caught in kurenai jutsu(he was literally caught by a genjutsu) but he was able to reverse it. So just cuz you have the potential does not mean u have the ability or skill.

i think they can cast a genjutsu because in overall the sharingan is a tool and the tool is only as strong as the wielder. so jus because u have the eyes dont mean u automatically r immune. sasuke broke out of itachi's tsukuyomi and his shraingan was below the MS

But it is also possible that Itachi himself deactivated the tsukoyomi. Remember that his true intention is exhaust Sasuke to remove the curse seal of heaven made by Orochimaru and make Sasuke a hero icon of Konoha. Its won't be done if he'll do the same as what he did with Kakashi. Sharingan as we agree is a tool and is only as strong as the weilder, do you really think Itachi's Tsukoyomi using MS can be defeated by Sasuke using Regular Sharingan amplified by Curse Seal of Heaven?

at that time though itachi was sick so he could have broke it but at the same time itachi is far behond sasuke in the genjitsu department. but to the main point nagato can get put in a genjitsu one he already has!!!! and no where in the manga does it say it cant besides its abilities all it can do is see chakara. the sharingun can slow movement down and zoom i sasuke was able to see the nanobite bombs in his arm and they can see the color of chakara the sharingun is better at visualizing stuff while the ringun has stong jutsu

NO mrmcdoanld, i think there is a difference btn ocular and auditory genjutsu. I think a genjutsu does not simply disrupt ur flow of chakra but the flow of chakra to a certain part of the body. I don't think if the flow of chakra to ur legs is disrupted u would see things differently but it would just immobilize u or make u move in a way ur opponent wants. I think an ocular genjutsu disrupts the flow of chakra into ur part of the brain which interprets what u see making u see whatever the caster wants. So in tsukuyomi, if u see urself strapped to a pole with itachi torturing u, ur brain interprets it to be true and acts accordingly making u feel pain. That is why I think when jiraiya cast the genjutsu on nagato the latter did not see anything different but just heard the frog song and collapsed to the floor. That is just my version. Kishi hasn't yet fully explained to us how genjutsus work so u can't make any definite statements that there is no difference.

@Quajo... you must be pertaining to Madara's Rinnegan. The answer would be yes, Sharingan can cast genjutsu on a Rinnegan and the outcome of genjutsu battle will still depend on who's better at it.
