Bittorrent is not illegal. What is illegal is the sharing of licensed property without paying fees to the license holder. This has always been the case, it's just America's anti-terrorism ideals are spreading to everything and they're becoming Nazi like with respect to file sharing :/ We should just use www.piratebay.org, as it's in Sweden and the MPAA can't touch it at all. Microsoft have tried and failed :D So the MPAA can't do anything.

Well guys you have to remeber. That every single anime that comes out of Japan that is fansubbed is Technically illegal.Sorry guys but thats the truth.Technically it cannot be shared with out the Written Consent of the anime creators. But Japan does not really pay any mind. They will get payed any how, when the U.S Buys the License,Then they end up On dvd here. Almost everything thats shared on BT is Illegal. There are many arguements On what should and should not be Shared on Bt, And probaly will never stop.I will post a few articles about Fansubbing and Licenses, When i get the chance.Thats why alot of groups Drop a series once it gets here in the US.Sucks for us who like a particualr anime, but thats how it is.
what an obvious hoax dammit! most hoaxes are displayed the same way :P

Here file sharing is illegal. Most P2P programs require that you also share media, what makes them illegal to use. But aslong you don't share anything, and only download, then it's legal. That's the case here in Finland. For example, downloading Naruto from via IRC is perfectly legal 8if you don't share) because you don't have to share anything.

isnt if u pay for the program its not illegal cuz that wat i did and it was cheap
01-12-2005, 05:28 PM
Erm, if you paid for the filesharing program, taht doesn't entitle you to the rights to own licensed property without paying the fee.
01-24-2005, 12:41 PM
it is not illegal because it is not licensed yet.
01-24-2005, 12:51 PM
i guess it al depends on what you use bit torrent for...........
01-24-2005, 09:48 PM
i don't use bit torent, but if your downloading naruto eps, there free fan subs. so it's not illegal. I think.
i never got bittorent to work anyways no loss

i dont know if others have said this yet or not.. because i just read the first post and then read the article. The article does not even SUGGEST that bittorrent is illegal (Blizzard Ent. uses BT!)... it says however that the MPAA are cracking down on those using it to download illegal material, since it is possible to track the IP of all those using a particular torrent they have sent out warning to those using the lisence infringing torrent (but the article says that by law the cable companies cannot give personal information even to the MPAA, so it is just an empty threat) since people continue to download lisenced material MPAA decided to hit those that distribute the illegal material. Something to note however... the MPAA is defending the lisencing rights of the big shot hollywood studios and probably couldnt give a shit about torrent sites that dont distribute the material of their clients... correct me if i am mistaken... but to sum it up Bittorrent in itself is NOT illegal.. i think people should do a little more research before announcing such bullshit.

I realy dont care if some fat rich asshole wants to become even more richer by the cost of millions people stay without some fun stuff that they cant pay for.
Few years ago i used to steal PC games from the Video stores. Just cause i didnt had those 50 euro for some stupid CD. And after i was leaving the shop all i felt was happyness(and some adrenaline, ofcorse). That shop made thousands euros every month, so i dont think they even missed those 5-6 cd that i have taken.
Same is here... I wont stop DL free MP3 or not use BT or even stop visit some porn sites cause i am under 18.... And why should i? Just cause some rich MTF say that its not right?
