Why? It's a random thing to learn, and also I'm LEARNING.
I can at least say that I know the greek alphabet, and that Jupiter has 12 moons.

People without jobs, and people with jobs.
Although, if you have a high paying job, I guess you've been to school and learned the value of education.
Now, I want people to come and post replies to this, and what they think of the youth of the world today; and how they spend their time.

Depends which side of youth you are looking upon.
Alot of kids, teens, and even some young adults all spend their time having fun, doing stupid and random things for laughs; or just to enjoy it. Education is the foundation of one's adulthood, but that doesn't mean you should spend ALL your time with education. It IS childhood.... and it only lasts for a couple of years.

I think that alot of people (including myself) waste their time doing stupid, and non-educational things. Let's take Neopets for example. It's just a place were kids go to have online fun. You wouldn't want them learning some sort of expeirienced science, having no fun, and then being an unhappy, boring adult when they grow up, now would you?

I agree that kids, teens, and YA all waste their time with trivial things.... But who doesn't?

What the hell is the point to this and why the hell do you complain so much, if people dont want to spell properly or if they want to waste their time doing meaningless things then thats their problem

Could it be because most of the people that post on forums are teenagers? Could it be because they have different opinions than your own? Could it be because people like a community online? Could it be that people don't feel compelled to put so much effort into their grammar on a forum, where it doesn't really matter? Could it be that people really ARE smarter than you, but because they do not know some random fact about something that you consider them to be unintelligent? Could it be that you're just extremely arrogant?

i agree fresh, stupidity is very subjective. one can be very knowledgeable about certain things and totally clueless about others. while i am concered about "stupid" people, the type of stupidity i'm concerned with isn't the kind that is addressed in the rant that started this thread. as for things being a waist of time, a lot of these things are just fun/enjoyable/relaxing things to do. some may say that making over 1000 posts on forum dedicated to an anime series is stupid, meaningless and a waste of time. also, knowing random facts is not necessarily a measure of intelligence. i guess i just disagree with teny's assessment and condemnation of what constitutes stupid in his rant. as for the quality of spelling, etc on forums, i (and many people i know) disregard all rules of grammar, punctutation, and occasionally spelling when making forum posts, sending ims, and even in infomral emails. we're not writing terms papers here.

I don't really get how this is a debate, it's a question...with answers that are neither pro nor con. You should learn not to nitpick, I could sit here for hours fixing your grammar in your thread alone, but I'm not. Your question alone is a stupid one. Everyone is stupid compared to someone else.

Computers themselves rot your brain, I read an article on it. It teaches people to accept the answers yes or no without questioning it because it's encoded into the monitor in front of your face, what's to question? However, computers give me amusement. Much like maplestory or other things like that do for other ppl.

You may feel the need to be constantly learning something, but other ppl feel less of this need. Ppl like sitting around and doing nothing, some people read, some people gossip, some people play games. Reading will not always teach you something, but do you call the people who read stupid? No.

Besides, who are you to say it's not good for anything? My friend plays maple story, just because it amuses her. Her average in highschool? 95%. Her current math mark? 99%. She says she likes it because she can be a 40 year old bald man who girls swoon over constantly, it makes her laugh, laughing = good. The end of story.

Okay, don't say calling someone or something stupid is an opinion. It's not. Deal with it. Chances are, if you're called stupid by the majority, you more than likely are stupid. Ignorance is not something that applies to the eye of the beholder. Let's take a look at some examples.

This is something I was "informed" of on a chat room the other night. Now, does this seem smart to you? Please, find me one person that thniks this is intelligent. This kid claimed to be a college graduate, be running three businesses simultaniously, and apparently had time during her break, at about one in the morning, to get on a chat room and demand cyber, while also claiming she was married. Wow, very intelligent. Note the sarcasm.

It's not a matter of intelligence, really, but common sense. No one should be so lazy as to prefer leet and acronyms and shortened words to actual typing. No one should be so lazy as to refuse to even attempt to correct spelling mistakes they have made. You can't blame an outlet like Neopets or Maple Story for that. You just can't. It's the person, not the media's fault.

Time isn't spent well amongst modern societies these days, if you stripped every kid in the society from their computer they'd rot and die.. lol. I guess it's become a need in their life, but then I'm not no one to talk considering I am on my computer most of the time.

Everyone learns, everyone has fun, everyone does different things. Everyone can act like a dumbass. It just depends on how you use your brain. There are those that like to act REALLY silly, to a point where it just becomes dumb. There are those that act stupid, and think they're looking cool. There are also those who think stupidity is a funny thing, or they just want the attention.
There are no stupid people. Just people who do stupid things.
There is also the fact that the way people act on the forums may not be the way they act in reality. They may act really stupid on the forums, but they could actually be extremely smart.
Do not assume with things like these, and just assume they are stupid.

I learn just as well as you learn, Teny. There are others here that have a great education and/or excelling job. And even if we don't have an education, there is still something that education cannot give: experience.

Hey, English isn't my frist langauge so I'm not the best speller in the world but I can sure as hell read the English langauge. I'm on a 12th grade reading level for all who wanted to know.

1. people who can´t lear fast
2. people who act like a dumass ( but they are not stupid like number 1 people)
3.people who act like dumass, and also are stupid learning
4.people who act like the other poeple just to be accepted ( don´t think by them selves)
