...I'd say neither of them are ready to be a chuunin. Naruto is a dumbass and would be a terrible leader because he acts on emotions. Same with Neji.

Neither would be good chuunins. A chuunin has to lead his people into battle, teach acadamy students, and STILL go on missions by themselves. Naruto, as we all know, is a complete moron. He would not be able to lead for shit as he has proven again and again.

Neji may be a very smart fighter and take fights seriously... But he ALSO is not exactly that smart. On the chuunin exam, he had to cheat for all of his answers... Which a good chuunin shouldn't neccessarily HAVE to do for all of his answers. He fights purely on his emotions which is against the shinobi way, if you've paid attention to the series.

Neither person is a good candidate.

Why? I'm giving my honest opinion, isn't that what you wanted?

Naruto is a great fighter... In fact, when he taps into his Nine Tails, he probably has about as much power as Jiraiya. When he first was fighting Haku, that other bad guy said something like, "What is that power!? It can't be Kakashi, he isn't that strong!" after Naruto powered up. ...So after all that training and learning those new skills, he's not bad. He also thinks pretty well in a fight.

Neji is pretty awesome and DOES appear to be the smarter fighter. His gentle fist fighting technique is freaking awesome, but Naruto would beat the crap out of it just from power alone. (I won't spoil anything for those that haven't seen that fight.)

Then again, as I have said a million times, neither has what it takes to be a chuunin. Both of them are equally dumb outside of a one on one fight and probably couldn't lead that well.

However, if I had to choose one, I guess it would have to be Neji just because he doesn't appear to be a dumbass compared to Naruto.

i like ur opinions they are very strong and i understand were u are coming from i wasn't flaming u earlier.. if u took it dat way.. but i just believe that Neji would just be more suited for the job than naruto

Neji is definately the strongest candidate. Neji is much more serious than Naruto. Also, Naruto wouldn't be able to lead a group of shinobi while Neji would.

Okay, obviously this is all about opinion. I choose Naruto, even though he's clumsey and thinks with his mouth rather than his brain (did that make sense lol sorry). I think Naruto has something not many characters have - detemination, the feel to accomplish something, the ability to LATER ON think and fight using his heart, and feeling the need to protect the ones he loves. Maybe he wouldn't make a great Chuunin, as ninjas in this catagory must be able to lead a group, but I would choose him as a candidate hands down. =)

I think Neji would be the best choice. He is a great fighter, but not only that, he is also responsible and mature. Naruto just doesn't seem to be the leader type yet. And when Shikamaru wanted to split the group in two, he chose Neji as the second group leader, which shows that he trusted him and probably knew he would do a good job.

Yeah did you not watch all of those episodes or something. EVERYONE CHEATED ON THE DAMN EXAM EXCEPT NARUTO BECAUSE HE WAS THINKING ABOUT HIS TEAMMATES.

I first thought I could choose between Sasuke and Neji.. I'd choose Neji then.
But then I saw the first post and found out I had to choose between Naruto and Neji.

But still.. I choose Neji, he is more analyzing and stuff. And I also say this because of the stuff I saw from him in the latest mission (To get Sasuke back) Go Neji :)

So your saying he can't lead people. Have you even seen the first season of Naruto. It was because of his inspiration and leadership that the town found the courage to fight off the invading "ninjas". Hell, he even had a bridge named after him.

It seems that only the calm leaders and the thoughtful fighters are the best suited for the job. In all reality, the thing that gets people to fight their fear is courage. Someone who does show courage and extends everything he has in a desprate moment (even though he should be calm) inspires another person to succeed. (e.g. Tsunade when the three Sennins fight) . Tsunade had near given up until Naruto gave it his all to fight Kabuyto (sp?). He never gave up. It was because of his "recklessness" that Tsunade was inspired to fight with her all. It was because of Naruto Tsunade and Jirya didn't die. Tell me that isn't leadership. That may not be smart and thought out, but it is more effective.

i think it should be neji... actually if you have already read the latter chapters of the manga, you would see neji is already a jounin! being a chuunin is not just being strong; it is also a matter of being witty and having the sense of leadership... which i say naruto still needs to improve on

I would go with Neji but until he defeats Naruto in a rematch then he shouldn't be the next Chuunin. Also Naruto wants to become Hokage and I think that the closer he gets then the more serious he would become.

I think to hell with the whole Chuurnin to Journin to ....., I think he'll go from Genin to Hokage.

EDIT: We've seen in that anime that he is so strong when he is defending people. He has the power, the desire to become it, the determination to do what it takes to get there, and he pwns all who hurt his "important people". He just needs to have the third's POV and the love for the entire village as he would for (say Sakura when he fights gaarra in the battel.)

Haha! About time lol. That means both anime and manga now eh. In that case NEJI, for starters ISN'T DEAD. AND HE'S JOUNIN. And Naruto now, is more mature. He just keeps his sense of humour. And uh. Yeah, he can be serious when he wants to. Like Kakashi. He can joke when he wants to too! So Naruto by all means should be Chuunin. He's certainly strong enough.

Neji all the way! 1) He isn't a loser. 2) He has the best techniques 3) He has a goal that would actually do the village good.

I think Naruto deserves it. He may be more foolish than Neji, but he is more powerful. he has worked hard to get as far as he is. And he shows exceptional skills at determination to learn new techniqes

Neji should be a chuunin already, it's inconclusive. If you read the manga, Naruto should also definitely be a chuunin now. He is much more powerful and has grown in intelligence. His ability to be patient hasn't enhanced much, but he's working on it. He can definitely lead a team, more or less because of his ability to put himself after his friends. He'll fight for them to the death. (i.e. Naruto protects Sakura from Gaara.)

They both deserve to be ranked Chuunins or above..but I'd go with Neji before Naruto..for clear reasons.

meh neji sux ballz.... he thinks he knows everything but in the end he i always wrong. when he was fighting the spider guy, it was naruto's words that helped him to victory, thus neji would make a bad chuunin. naruto is pretty stupid, so he shouldnt lead a team. if he was always on a one man mission, to kill all the bad guys then it would be cool cuz he can take down lots of ppl more powerful than him

Yeah..I think Neji would be the next chuunin..My favorite is Naruto..but like someone said, he acts on emotions and stuff..And Neji is more calm and all that. BUT I do belive that Naruto WILL become Hokage..:D
