I'm always told to use firefox, but i dont undertsand much difference bwteen that and IE.

Well, kinda. I use teh Firefoxy. I haff no problems with it. Though honestly, that doesnt answer you question to WHY its better...mainly because of speed and quality. You get to sites easier, and it blocks pop up ads, and warns you of viruses. Now that's groovy. ^_^

I prefer Firefox over internet explorer. The reason is IE is too tied into Windows and sometimes it saves a bunch of crap and shit into weird locations. Firefox is better since it is a stand-alone product, I know where everything is stored on it so if something messed up, I can fix it or remove it.

Pretty much what Tom said. Basically, if I get spamwares and other nasty little busgs to the system, they go straight for Internet Explorer, while I laugh from my Firefox seat high above them.

Yes, Firefox is a very reliable browser. Before using Opera, which i use now, i used Firefox. It's a great browser, and I definately recommend it. ^^

I used to get lots of crap when I used IE.. pop ups and spyware and stuff.. Dont get much problem with Firefox though. So yeah, use Firefox, Lory! ^^

I used to use IE, it wasn't that great, got a lot of Viruses, it had a lot of useless junk on it.

Then I switched to FireFox, and the viruses stopped, and the speed increased a bit, also the Tab idea rocks, better having 10 tabs, in one window, then 10 seperate windows for IE

Actually, Firefox can be made MUCH faster than all of the other browsers with a few simple tweaks. Additionally, if you actually take the time to download the patches and plug ins, you will see, despite what a particular website explains, that it is much safer than any other as well. It also takes up less system resources than the newest version of IE (granted, it's a beta).

the newest IE is as good as firefox since it has cool skin and tabbed browsing, but u need a real edition of microsoft windows to work it, so if ur version is pirated, firefox is the only one to go

I don't know why I stayed with IE for soo long but after I started using mozzila I decided that this is the browser for me

firefox is easier to customize and if configed rite can run faster....
HOWEVER it lacks lots of support for certain media players and websites
IE finally fixed there lack of tabs in IE7 which has got me going between both...

Well it's good to see that the majority of people seem to now be using FireFox, I love this browser. It's fast, easy to use and just feels cleaner and more solid than IE. As for sites that don't work in FireFox that you need IE for, download the IE Tab extention.

In terms of security, yes, FF is much better than IE. However, I don't use FF because of the childish layout, everything is enhanced to much, its more user friendly than anything else.

Firefox has its securit flaws, but unlike IE it is not directly linked to the Windows OS like IE is. IE is the foundation of Windows OS. For example in the my computer window you can puta URL in the title bar and it will go to it.

Yeah, you can customize more on Firefox. Except after I customize, my changes won't remain permanent. Like, if I customize my toolbar to have the back and forward buttons, the tab, home, stop, and bookmark buttons as small icons, it wont remain a permanent change. Its so angering. >_<

I also mean customizing how FireFox connects to the web pages and etc. For example, I have my FireFox open up a page 30 times at once in one page. This means it makes it so I open pages almost five times faster than I normally would on any other browser. :-p

IMO, yes.
FireFox keeps pop-ups and shyt out of my computer.

Keep internet explorer in mind,I believe its better,cause it allows most of the search updates,and you'll be able to find things faster with IE.^^

What? Exactly how is FireFox not ideal for CSS scripting? The way it is set up is just different in order to help prevent spyware from being able to take your computer (most specifically browser hijackers).

Fire Fox is better but I have no technical info to back it up it's just a matter of oppinion, I like it because you can download extensions etc.

But I use Opera which I think is better than FF.

Yes top rated broswer. It's the best i used to use the IE but once i saw Mozilla Firefox it took over my heart. Fast, no pop ups. Oh and easier to dleete history (hehehe)

FireFox is better because, as many have said, it's faster, doesn't contain as many scripting errors as IE, it blocks Pop-Ups much better than IE, and it helps prevent Viruses much better than IE.

In short, it's safer to use that IE. That, and the interface is much more appealing.

just keep both, firefox for normal browsing, and IE for scripting

yeah firefox is awesome im glad i took my Java Online Course... a required software needed for it was Firefox... and after a few days I was just hooked on downloading extensions and stuff.... very awesome
the tabs let me watch about 5 episodes of fma in one window.. It takes 5 windows for IE. Also Firefox is faster if u get Fasterfox & update normally..

hell Firefox is better!!! it's got the tabs, saves time and is faster than IE!!!! it's also convenient because you don't have to open a lot of IE browsers if you have a lot of sites to go.... firefox is the greatest, dude!!!! it's easy to learn....

yeah in the end firefox is better in alot of aspects. Im using it right now. hehe. but yeah it just has a faster speed. which in my opinion is enough for it to be better than the normal IE.

with Firefox you can eliminate java programs running and block almost all popups. And I do see a noticable difference with the loading time of pages. And Firefox doesn't get all of these annoying attachments that IE seems to get.

That's not IE or FireFox's fault. You don't get random trojans just by poking around safe places on the internet. You went somewhere you weren't supposed to go. FireFox probably saved you from a lot of the stuff... But there isn't ANY browser that can stop the more serious stuff.

for load time, I find firefox to be amazing, but IE is much more html friendly.

I Would Have To Say The Only Downside To Firefox Is That You Can Not Visit The Site Mapleglobal.com, But If Your Not A MapleStory player Than The Site Is 100% Better Than Internet Explorer In Every Way.

I pretty much like Firefox more than IE. But there are somethings that can only be viewed in IE, which is a downside to Firefox. Otherwise, it's great.

Alright I got a problem here with firefox, when I try do certain stuff it says I need to install plugins but when I try to install them it says something like it could not find the proper plugins or something like that. What to do???
