Its kind of ridiculous how sometimes people can lable something racist if they don't like it. True in a sense the ad was in poor taste, but still don't you think the whole situation is being overblown for an advetisement?

What about those squirrel & rat advertisements

http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=192 (<tells the truth in a funny way)

It took them awhile for them to be removed and they were making fun of stereotypes <blatantly>.

What do you think about it? do you see a racist, bad idea for advertisement <because it will be misunderstood as something racist>, or a good idea that was Misconstrued as racist. <?>

The problem with this ad is it's inherent ambiguity. What is it trying to say about the product? That the new white PSP is more desirable, and will become more popular than the earlier black model? A more beneficial marketing message would suggest that the serious gamer should have both versions, increasing the company's business. If the image was less obtuse, any thought of racism,etc. would never have come up.

Oh well. At least it got heads turning.

Unlike Ninty staining Des Lynams mustache purple to promote the GameCube. Wtf.

This is blown out of proportion. Sony knew what this would entail and knew how people would react. by complaining and reporting on it, you give sony free publicity.

How ambiguous..
You either think "im white, i pwn joo black dude!"
or "buy the new white psp, because it rules the black (not thinking about racism)"

They could have used something else rather than people..cause when you use people in that way its like "ZOMG, RACISM, SONY IS RACIST! SUE!"

sony are attention whores lol

the reason why its ambiguous is because the advertisement has no meaning so people are left to create their own ideas hence the racism thought.

I wouldn't class it as racist but alot of black americans might. If they do ever sue Sony for that it is sorta Sony's fault. They probably had it coming. Anyways I have black PSP if anyone wants to protest the fact about the BLACK and WHITE PSPs don't bother. =.=;
