maybe her daughter couldn't or didn't want to carry the child herself. There could be multiple reasons for it.

I don't see why this is wrong, gross or funny, they probably just had a very good reason fer it.

its quite the same as another women having your baby because you couldnt give birth...
besides...people know the difficulty that comes when that happens. The women would claim the child to be hers and never let the biological mother see her child again. and then the husband may leave his wife for the women who had their child.
But with the mother, as respectful as they are, they'd make sure their daughters get that child under any circumstance, without having to go through a court case..duh
