Almost every movie that has aliens says they're centuries ahead of us and features them with mind-blowing technology, like hovercraft. But what if they were centuries behind us? What if they came with lances and swords and found us with cars and guns? Has anyone considered that? ...I have a feeling this will get tossed right into Dumbasses Unite, but it's called the Spam Zone for a reason.

I agree with G, but if some how they idd get here, there wouln't be much of a conflict. We'd tear through 'em pretty easily if it was swords,spears, and bows vs. bombs, guns, grenaes, etc.

Well, yeah. The main reasoning behind that is because there's no aliens on the moon, Venus, or Mars. So the only place aliens could exist would be outside our solar system. And a species would have to be more advanced than us to reach our planet, since we can't travel farther than our solar system ourselves.

If they had the power to transport to other galaxies, yet, use swords and spears to fight, that's kind of a logic buster. They've figured out how to move in more than 3 dimensions to travel quicker, but still use short range weapons? I guess you can say they concentrated on transportation technology (plus every other technology), and never attempted to develop advanced weapons. But what kind of plot would a movie develop with that? Aliens came, they weren't that great, and we defeated thems. End

Aliens with supreme technology makes the humans the underdogs, and also makes for a better plot.

Well, even if they got here via instant teleportation it'd be kinda boring because:

that they have found...they could be living underground for all we know...or have a cloacking device...plus no lander has ever survived longer then a week...and they all ended up getting shut down from "unknown causes" so who's to say that the aliens aren't the ones causing them to shut down...

Well, in the "Predator" movies, they resort to melee weapons and such. I know they have future-ish weapons, but still, they use spears and gauntlet blades.
