I don't like the extremely small amount of characters that we are allowed to have in our signatures. "It's to prevent loading problems," right? Well the problem is all the pictures. If their was a cap on the total amount of kb you could have, then pages would load faster. ...Plus everyone probably still could have their precious banners, so long as they worked it right.

Something like 80-100 kb TOTAL (not PER picture, but for ALL pictures) would be nice... Then the amount of text you have could be increased from 500 measly characters to something like 2000 characters and we still wouldn't have to worry. ...Still need restrictions so people don't have a five inch signature or something like that? Then say it is up to mod discression to say what is too long or something liek that.

I think that we should press down on some signatures but not on total kb...since gif's etc take up a LOT of it and could be kinda hard to view some great graphics. We already block large graphics and a few other things but unfortunatley most is left up to Shino and Tom and Vermilion which like to keep a pretty laid back forum which is great for the age group to which they adhere to!

Yeah, but some of these pictures people have in their signatures is huge. What about the people on dial up? Threads average about 20 posts per page, right? If there are 20 posts and each person has the same amount of kb in their pics as you do... Check this out: Your first picture is about 285kb. The second is about 85kb. That's a grand total of 370kb. Now multiply that by 20 posts. That's 7400kb, or about 7.4 megs... And that's just for signatures. Isn't that a big excessive? I've seen a few members that have that stick figure guy constantly trying to knock down that door with explosions and I think that one alone is 300kb or so... Then he has several MORE pictures.

There should be some kind of kb restriction...

I agree, there are some signiatures that are ridiculously large, but hey, its a forum for young people, let them have a bit, anything too big, we change. and tell them.

See the amount of text in my signature? Even IF I saved it in Microsoft Word, it is less than 2kb... (And that's mostly the program's format. In a simple txt form, it is less than a kb.) 2000 characters is about 2kb in a txt format (which is what it would be on here). ...So sorry, you're theory doesn't add up. The pictures, however, do.

And also, not everyone has caching and cookies enabled for so long of a time. ...Plus there are people that frequently CHANGE their signatures as well. If you randomly pick a thread in any forum that has 20 posts in it (or one full page), I will add up the kbs in it and show you how massive each load is.

Try saving it as a txt document. Check out how much it is. You saved it as a picture. It's 894 bytes... Nothing compared to a picture.

What are you talking about? I'm not asking certain members to lower their signatures... All I think would be neat would be if we could have more space to write things up. It takes up hardly anything.

I'm terribly sorry for the double post... (It HAS been almost a week now.) But I've yet to get a reply from an admin (or site owner) on my little suggestion that takes into point all the facts I listed here. So... Would it be that much of a hassle to just raise the limit for sigs a bit? I'd sure appreciate it and I can't really think of a reason why not to.

I think I am with Vermillion on this. *loads gun* You can always change your settings, bu the truth is that the internet sucks from dialup. Personally I would drop cable for a faster internet service , tv sucks anyways. So drop your cable tv and get cable internet. (or even better, go to college and get 850 kb/s up or down like me, hehe)
