I have a wee problem with continuity here... Is the guy who is writing Bleach trying to say that there has been no other hollows that have been killed that were evil in life?

Episode 6 of the anime (I dunno what that is in the manga) said that souls that are destroyed by a zanpakuto that did evil deeds while they were alive are sent to Hell instead of soul society. ...None of the arrancar that have died have done anything evil in life? I find that a little hard to believe.

This also begs the following question: Do all hollows that are killed end up in soul society, cleansed and in normal soul form? What about arrancar? How does this shit work?

The arrancar were never"cleansed" with a zanpakuto, that is why they are not in hell. Chances are, these people have done some seriously fucked up shit so they would go to hell.

The breaking of their mask is not equal to a cleansing of a zanpakuto.

I think the death of an arrancer is similar to the special case of the Quincy way of killing hollows. noting that when a quincy defeats a hollow, they don't purify the soul, but permanently kill it. We don't see any hell gates open for those killed hollows. my guess is an arrancer's body, being a step above the hollow in terms of evilness, dies when defeated similar to a hollow slain by a quincy.
