Time for TSBasilisk's crackpot theory of the day!

For some time, I've been wondering about all the connections between Ichigo, Soul Society, and Aizen's intents. This is the theory that evolved: Ichigo is the Prince of Soul Society.

Aizen believes that there is no god, that there is a void where the celestial ruler should be. Yet we know there exists an enigmatic King of Soul Society. The Captain Commander believes Aizen's goal is to assassinate the King and take control. However, I came to wonder whether the King is no longer in his palace. The Captain Commander stated that there is virtually no contact between Soul Society and the King, so if he disappeared, the chances that they would know are small, and even then, only a few would be made aware of this. If Aizen became aware of the fact that the King was gone, wouldn't that seem like a godless existence? His intentions aren't to invade the palace dimension, or at least not by using Karakura City to form a key, so perhaps the King isn't in his safe palace dimension, but somewhere else.

So what does this have to do with Ichigo? Ichigo's father, Isshin, was formerly a captain-level shinigami, and an extremely powerful one. Even though he mentions he has only regained part of his original powers, he was more than strong enough to destroy an incomplete Arrancar, the Grand Fisher, without releasing his zanpakuto. Obviously, his power is on the same level as Ichigo's, beyond that of many Captains. As he gave up this power only twenty years ago, he would be easily recognized by any shinigami who had been in service at that time, such as Rukia, but she sees him only as Ichigo's father. So, he either spent little time in Soul Society, or was never a part of the Protection Squads. As such, is it possible that he in fact comes from the palace dimension of Soul Society's King, and that he might be the King? It is possible that the King, tired of a probably boring and pointless existence in his palace, decided to go out and see the realm he and his people ruled. However, while seeing the sites on Earth, he met Masaki and fell in love. He chose to make his attachment to his gikkai permanent, and married her, seeing what it was like to live a human life with a woman he loved.

If this holds true, then Aizen's true goal is not to invade the palace dimension, but to track down the current King, Isshin. By eliminating him, Aizen will usurp his role as King of Soul Society and become the ruler that Isshin's line has never been.

ur theory hav points but i doubt that will be the outcome of the story about the king...

it is true that Soul Society has no direct contact with the realm of the King and that knowing if the king dissapeared from the realm is very slim... but also , knowing if the king is still there is the same

and then... u think that Isshin is the king... well i dont think he is though... Urahara, Ishida's father (Raishin?) and perhaps the vizards know him well and the fact that rukia doesnt know him well coz rukia was just a newbie.. she, i think, became a shinigami 2-4 yrs ago of earth time... compared to the fact that isshin left soul society 20 yrs ago, they may had never met or even rukia havnt heard of him before...

all in all... the idea is too farfetched to me... but i like the idea, though i dont think it'll be like that though...

urt theory is awesome, it would also explain why no one in soul society recognizes the name "kurosaki" becuase since he was captain level, ishhin should have been well known.

but speaking of isshin's power, i think he is one of the few that can take on aizen.

Actually, he could have taken on a new name.

I like your theory, it would be a large plot twist, though. You should be the adviser to the manga-ka. I like Isshin and it would explain how he's so remarkably powerful, same goes for Ichigo.

wow that would be cool if it happend

Also his father could have taken his mothers last name so that would be why no one know him

or if he was the king...

what makes me wonder though is, when people like byakuya hear the name kurosaki, they dont relate it to isshin.

though one thing i do remmember is that byakuya mentions that ichigo looks like "him" but he never says who "him" is.

and also.

what pisses me off.
is when byakuya says.
its almost as if....

im like finish the fucking sentance muthafucka! almost as if what??? bahh!!!

The "looks like him" comment referred to Ichigo's resemblance to Rukia's mentor, Kaien Shiba (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Kaien.jpg). Byaukuya believed that Ichigo's resemblance was at the root of Rukia's softness towards him; this was also mentioned later, when Ukitake was stunned by his appearance.

Also, I'm not sure what point in the manga or anime you're referring to when you mention the "almost as if" part.

Yeah, there were bound to be threads like this in the past. Still, yours seems to be more of a joke thread than anything else.

well i don't think ichigo is the king and neither aizen thinks so.I guess he believes the throne is his and this is why he is trying to assassinate the former king.I believe he wants ichigo for his potential, which is very good, because he will help him gain more power(aizen's purpose)this is why he hasn't orderd some1 to kill him and has taken inoue as a prisoner, apart from her skills. That is my opinion i kind of believe it would be extravagant for ichigo to became the king...

The problem with this theory is that the resent meeting Ichigo's Father and the other quincy makes me think that his fall from the Death Gods more has something to do with either disagreeing with what they were doing to the quincy's, or that he left due to some forbidden love. I just don't see him being the king. That is why I don't forsee this theory being true although it is possible that Ichigo will become the next king.
