nani o..? I though 4mb is equal to 4000kb? Wakarimasen.. I don't understand.. Where did u get 4mb is 500kb? Yea, I prefer Cable, it's much much faster! Dial up is slow. Osoi ne!
56k is a dial up if I'm not mistaken and it stands for 56kilobytes? I'm not sure...

4 megabits = 500 kilobytes 8bits = 1 byte
so 4000000 bits = 500000 bytes
isp's almost always advertise their download rates in megabits because you get a bigger number, but when people talk about file sizes they almost always talk in bytes.

I heard cable varies on it's speed, depending on how many people in your area have cable, is this true or is it a set download rate?
Shino
09-18-2005, 04:09 PM
Its true, but Im lucky and not many people around here have cable :D

So is cable expensive? My school connection downloads around 800KBPS, do you need cable T.V to get cable?
drunk_sea_monkey
09-18-2005, 04:41 PM
you don't need to i don't think... it can come in a package and thats what we have i think
Shino
09-18-2005, 05:52 PM
Its not too expensive, and no, you dont HAVE to have cable tv, but you DO have to atleast be able to get cable. In other words, if your way out in the boondocks and cant get cable tv, then you cant get cable internet.
