Do you see the difference? The mangekyou also allows the user to use a few special jutsus, like Tsukiyomi, and Amatseru.

Its more like the third level. The sharingan with the 2 things in it is the first level, and the one with 3 is the 2nd.

I think to show him that with power you can attain anything, as well as let him know that he has another level of the sharingan, as opposed to the level everyone else is at.

It's obviously the magenkyou. There's nothing to poll about this you know.

its mangenkyou because u need to kil your best friend for it right? and that missing guy died(and member the missing guy is like itachi's best friend or something like that) and they suspect itachi and dats how itachi got mangenkyou cause he killed that missing guy so its obviously mangekyou

*sigh* Lvl. 2 Sharingan is the one with three dots, and there is no lvl.3 currently (unless you count Mangekyou Sharingan). Anyways, he showed it to Sasuke for the "omfg" factor; to make the viewers go "omfg" :). Actually, he showed it to prove that he has attained another, more powerful type of sharingan, and to add proof to the fact that killing your best friend will give you the mangekyou sharingan.

Yeah it is definitely the mangenkyou, and he showed it to Sasuke so he could show him that he had no remorse and would stop at nothing for power. Letting us know the point of the flashback, and how much Itachi really got to Sasuke.

Yes in the end it was the mangekyou sharingan but when he was beating the crap outa everyone it was the regular sharingan and yes Itachi killed shisui (the guy that everyone said he commited suicide) to obtain the mangekyou sharingan you have to kill your closest friend

He didnt show the eye to sasuke in fact he didnt want to show anybody......he jus turned away so noone would see it and sasuke was there......cuz the police wud know that Itachi killed shisui if they saw itachi with the eye

Agree, plus to people think the creators of the naruto anime/manga should have shown this new 'unique' eye before, is that no one saw it?????????? ( i bet no ones get it....)

He used the mangekyou sharingan three times....

1. When he used it against kakashi, kakashi got effect very fast, and everyone else closed their eyes

2. Only he was starring at sasuke and when he opened his eyes with that zoom effect, that means maybe he just activated the eye.

3. He used it on the wall to do ametarasu. Omg the wall is alive??!!

right heres the thing people... firstly, the eye is mangenkyou... its the evolved sharingan. heres what too many people are taking too literal. Itachi killed the person who was missing from the meeting... that person was another Uchiha. the person who had been noticing that something was happening to Itachi. This was family.... i dont think it was Itachi's best friend... it was his cousin or something; Shisui. Shisui was said to have looked at by Itachi like an older brother. They werent necessarily best friends... it just shows there was an extremely strong bond between then. Itachi then killed the clan, all except Sasuke... He told sasuke to kill his best friend if he wanted to gain the eye like him, and this was because Itachi had killed the clan, so there was no one for sasuke to do that to. The point of Itachi killing Shisui, was because of that family bond, usually unconditional love and admiration. he killed Shisui rather then any other first, because thats who he had the strongest tie to. It was no doubt the hardest thing he had to do, and acquired the eye. By killing the clan, that ment sasuke wouldnt be like him and have his name looked down upon in that same way. it also meant Sasuke would have to work to get a bond with someone. There is one family member he could kill, and thats Itachi, but since he needs the next step on to do that, he cant. So Itachi told him to kill his best friend... the person you have the closest tie with, and would have the most trouble wanting to kill.

Secondly, contrary to what everyone else says on why Itachi killed the clan, i dont think it was "just to see what he was capable of"... like Sasuke being compared to Itachi by his dad, Itachi was compared to the Uchiha. His dad kept saying how proud he was of him, and then told Sasuke to be just like him, rather then being himself. thats why he killed the clan i think... he wasnt testing his power out on the best... he was setting himself free from the clans expectations. He hated the clan, for how he was being compared to it as a whole, rather then as an individual. like when those 3 police members got their butts whipped... they were the ones spouting on about the clan and how things should be... Itachi was making his point that he is his own person, and shouldnt be compared to something else... only himself. Thats why he spared Sasuke... because Sasuke was the only one who knew what it was like to be compared to something, rather then seen for his own abilities. Itachi loves his brother, that is the most obvious part here. and when we saw in the flashbacks ages ago when he told him to hate him and the rest, he wanted Sasuke to not focus on becoming like him... he wants Sasuke to become more then him. Otherwise he would have killed him when he had the chance twice.. but instead thought he would torture him to make him stronger, and make him want it more. but he's going about it the wrong way. Sasuke is driven by hate... thats not what Itachi wants in truth, even though he said Sasuke should, and thats why he stopped and appologised when Sasuke screamed out. Itachi is wanting Sasuke to become his own person, free from comparisons... yet in his hate, people are comparing him still to Itachi, and even in his mind, he is being driven by those words "become like your brother"

That's what he was doing. Also, he showed the Magenkyou to show Sasuke that he was stronger than pretty much anyone in the village at that point, especially their father. Itachi and his father never really got along. This is because their father always expected alot of Itachi. He always told him of his responsibilities and what was neded of him. Itachi was fed up with always hearing that, and angry that his father never left him alone to go spend time with Sasuke. Itachi adored Sasuke, and I guess that made him insane like he is now.

2) Well, in a technical sense, no. Naruto was in his way when Sasuke tried to run to Oroochimaru. I think it was near the middle of the fight that the idea came to his mind. At the end, he is standing over Naruto's unconcious form. He has the chance to do it, but walks away. You see just before he leaves the village, he says, "Itachi, I will become stronger than you in my own way!" Judging from these, I don't think he tried to kill Naruto for that reason, but that's just what I think.

its not that he hated his father, cause there is no evidence of that. he just hated how he was being told keep doing this and that, just like that, and being a good uchiha. he had a beef with the ideals of the clan, not the clan itself. he noticed sasuke who was wanting to be like him, because he is like a mentor, someone sasuke admires. but it is a different thing for someone else to tell sasuke to be like his brother. for someone to want to be like someone else, that is their choice, but they are still seen as an individual by others. Their father was saying "itachi, you show everyone how good the uchiha is" rather then "itachi, you are a great ninja" and "sasuke,keep up the work and be like your bro" instead of "Sasuke, good job!". because they both had this problem, of being good, but being told what to do, it made it worthless. Itachi was doing great things, becoming an ANBU only after such a short time. instead of his accomplishments, people and the clan said "that is the way of the Uchiha". he didnt actually go insane, he was making things right for himself. if he hadnt have seen the way Sasuke was treated, in the same way as himself, so he related to his feelings, he wold have killed him with the rest of the clan. instead he basically told Sasuke he was his own person, and should be compared to no one. he was the remaining Uchiha, cause he still wants his family, where as Itachi in killing the clan has said he wants no part of it. i dont think it was coincidence that Sasuke was away from the village when the attack happened. and then this can be seen as a blessing in disguise. Itachi might have been thinking that if this is how he came out because of being compared, then it could happen to sasuke, and thus sparing him in two ways... not just physically from the killing, but emotionally from never being seen for who he is rather then who he should be.

He did, it just didn't zoom in on his eye like it did in episode 129. If you mean when he looked at Sasuke after he whipped the guys, then he just showed Sasuke the Magenkyou. The Magenkyou isn't a technique, it's just another level of Sharingan. I dunno the technique's names though.

I always thought that it was a technique ......
