Well text for me doesnt kill the balance, it would look cool without it however, the text is there to emphasize the sigs effect. If i didnt see text i would think kratos is looking into the sun through a door. But the opening of gate appeals to the nature of the sig...just my thoughts ^^

Well, the sig seems to have meaning behind it, and that's good. The background is decent, and the text is straightforward with purpose. Nice.
