Barack Obama has not even been sworn in yet as the 44th president of the United States but groups are springing up online calling for his impeachment.

On Facebook, an "Impeach Barack Obama" group has attracted more than 700 members and a lively debate about the Democrat's election victory on Tuesday over Republican John McCain.

Another Facebook group of the same name has 160 members and urges others to join because "we might as well get a head start on the impeachment of Obama."

"There are a lot of Americans out there that do not fully understand the concept of Socialism or Communism which is why they've elected Obama as president," it says.

Yet another Facebook group, "Impeach Barack Hussein Obama," has 160 members.

It decries that Obama "has voiced support for various unconstitutional programs such as the assault weapons ban, universal healthcare, and various schemes for wealth distribution."

"What are we going to do about it? IMPEACH HIM!" it says.

Obama still has some way to go, however, to equal the number of "Impeach George Bush" groups on Facebook, which lists at least 95 such groups with varying membership.

Obama is to be sworn into office on January 20, 2009. He will be the first African-American president of the United States.

I think by wealth distribution they mean giving their money to people who don't pay taxes (atleast thats whats eat me). And the rich to help out a little more? I was under the impression that the top 5% of this country pays more than 70% of our taxes, where as 1/3 of the population doesn't pay taxes. Or something like that.

As far as impeaching Obama, I don't see it happening. The words of a few radicals calling for impeachment and him to be thrown out of office will just fall on deaf ears. Besides, if something like that was to happen (with out just cause) there would be an huge uproar within the black community as well as ridicule from other countries. It would set us back 100 years.

My question is why these people didn't want to impeach Bush. He was just as bad, if not worse.

The general plan is for the rich to pay more in taxes, giving the poor more money, which will lead to mopre spendng, which gives everyone more money, including the government (product taxes). Not for us to just sit back and collect what the rich are forced to give up.

Obama's plan increases taxes for those making over 250k a year, which is pretty freaking wealthy. Plus, the increase depends on how much more you make, so you're not going to see a change if you make, say, 251k. The only people would see a significant increase are those who makes significantly more. But if you're making significantly more than 250k, than all the taxes in the world aren't going to stop you from being rich as crap.

How will the rich compensate for that increase in tax? Raising prices and laying off jobs and sending jobs over seas. The poor might get more money, but the money still wouldn't be enough to compensate for the eventual increase in prices.

The last time the government tried to help out the poor (two years ago), the economy went capoey, and a lot of people in the construction business (like me) were laid off. They wanted the banks to give out loans to people who had no way of repaying them back so they could buy homes, increasing the housing industry. But the bottom fell out and now too many people are having their homes reposed by the banks because they can't pay back their loans and the construction industry got hit hard.

So Obama's punish the rich for being rich with increased taxes will do more harm than good to this country. And the only people who might benefit from it or those who are unemployed and expect the government to hold their hands. But even then, when prices increase and jobs go bye bye, then even they won't be able to enjoy their moderate benefit.

And just to note, I am a registered Democrat. But even I know bull shit when I see it...

The 250K increase in tax is reasonable. That is a nice sum of money for one person to bring in annually. But like I said, with the increase in taxes will have a negative effect in the long run. You can't sit back and punish capitalist and think only good can come from of it.

I think the real reason why these people want obama out is not because of what he could do but more along the lines of what would happen after the impeachment. Technicly since obama would no longer be president than the next person in charge would be Biden unless of course there is a different approach used via grey davis recall. If that were to happen than both democrats and republicans would have to restart their whole vetting process again only this time it would be enough time for those who havent spent money to use it thus the next debates could have several other candidates. But then again that also opens the door for third parties to potentially take advantage of the situation thus people like nader and barr could have the ability to chip away at the votes of both parties thus making the voting system even more problematic. During that time, Biden would be so busy himself trying to run that he would be unable to attend to the normal affairs of office thus things that Bush has kept in place would not be quickly removed which in the end is what many of these people want in the end. Then there is the fact that by then who knows who could be in the white house. It could be a republican, a democrat, or if someone took advantage of the situation properly like the Governator did, a dark horse candidate that no one expects. That in the end is probably what would probably happen and it all would start just because a bunch of people just didnt like whom ever was in office.
