I'm thinking about giving "Bleach" a shot, but would it be better for me to start by reading the manga or watching the anime?

Manga. Although I stopped reading it a year ago because it became crap.

I suggest you start the anime, watching episode1 then skip to episode 15-16 where rukia gets taken away and thats where the 1st arc begins, episodes before are just plain gay fillers.

oh and when you get to the bount arc feel free to skip that, I actually wasted my time and watched the whole thing...it sucked so bad.

Anime...
My suggestion: Only read manga's that don't have many fighting scenes.
The fights are good in anime but not really in manga.

Still not sure exactly what you mean. Do you mean that your sister goes by the same screen-name as I do? It deffinately can't be that you think I'm your sister. Problem number 1 with that would be the fact that I'm a guy.
And, yes, some here thought I was a girl. I won't say who, but they got a Death Note...

That bount arc last forever lol
i would start with the manga if i were you. I mean the anime is good and all but seems like bleach fillers last longer then any filler i have seen.

Mmhm... Bounto arc was terrible. A waste of time, and it wasn't any fun to watch. It was like a crossover of Dracula and Bleach, which didn't work very well.
I would say read the manga. Maybe it's just me, but the anime's animation seems kind of strange and rigid. I have much more fun reading the manga.

yeah start with the manga to get it in its pure form
i do both though since i started with anime (had no clue what manga actually was really)
its good for scenes that have a lot of movement like the fighting ones imo

Im fairly new to Bleach myself. i tried to read the manga on serveral different occasions tho i couldnt quite get into it.
Then i watch the 1st 60ish episodes and well i loved it.
Is there any sites out there that are like leafninja but for bleach?
Would be awsum to know when im watching fillers and when im watching the actual story.
I prefer watching the Anime then heading into the manga just to stay up to date, Then watch the bad ass fights and what not later.

^some of the fillers aren't that bad, at least the ones towards the beginning of the series and Bount saga.

I suggest watching the first arc to get the basic story and first couple of fights then start reading the manga. I actually do both just to see how the awesome fights look. The main reason i got into the manga is because i got tired of all the fillers and started reading the manga to get ahead in the story.
Word of advice: Never watch the fillers, they have nuthin to do with the story and are a total waste of time/resources.
