hello danish chef.
answer to your woman trouble.
Good for you it happen this soon before you're married. At least now you know she is an ungrateful woman unworthy of your viking lineage.
Gonna disagree with Miburo. It would be manly to battle him if the chick was worth it, but she sounds like a pretty big douche as well so walk away, bang new chick sounds like the manly option.
Unless of course it is battle him then tell the girl to fuck off. That'd be pretty damn manly.

Yeah, of course. Wouldn't be battling the guy for dibs on the wench. Battle the guy out of principle, and because it's a legit excuse to battle someone.
Especially when he's already willing to do things like damaging the guy's means of transportation. (Invalidating the 'not worth it' excuse.) If you're going to break his shit, might as well be manly about it and choose his face.

I think damaging his car is much better. Nothing damages a man then seeing his beloved possession damage beyond repair. Or thinning their wallet.
TheBaron

So, you're going with "key'd it"? Okay. Survey says!:
UNMANLY.
Sorry, but the manly answer was to battle him. Welcome back.
1st of all: Thank you for the WB.
2nd. of all: He was not around when I key'd the car. Otherwise, I would have key'd his face. With a fist. The one attached to my right arm.
I think damaging his car is much better. Nothing damages a man then seeing his beloved possession damage beyond repair. Or thinning their wallet.
Not only his "beloved possession" but also his "Penis-enhacement" - No other reason to get a Porsche over - well anything else, that is not Porsche.
Speaking of the girl (Maya), I threw all her luggage in a local river, deviding Central Copenhagen, from the outer areas - while she was watching. Then I took a cab home, opened a beer and read all the Naruto I had missed while travelling.

If someone keyed my car (assuming I owned a car worth keying), I'd just think someone doesn't like me, but I'm so much more manly than him that stalking around in the shadows like some wuss and rat clawing my car is the only thing he can do about it. That makes me awesome, which doesn't make me feel bad. I'm superior. I win.
If someone completely asserted his dominance over me by destroying me in manly battle, on the other hand, I'd definitely know that the other dude is way manlier than I am. He's superior. He wins.
There are exceptions where underhanded tactics are acceptable, like if you go to battle a dude and he says something unmanly like "Go ahead and beat me up, I'll call the police and sue you and shit lolol." In a situation like he has already abandoned his manly honor and he's basically admitting that you're the superior man. Because you don't say shit like that if you're a manly badass, you say that shit when you're a cowardly weakling who knows he'd get crushed in manly combat. So go ahead and break his stuff then if you want. Your superiority is clearly established, and his stuff is broken. You win.
Manliness, down to a science. Fuck yeah!
I think damaging his car is much better. Nothing damages a man then seeing his beloved possession damage beyond repair. Or thinning their wallet.I'm having difficulty deciding which action was douchier. It doesn't seem the other guy had to douche it up all that much to persuade the wench, so I'm not sure the guy is deserving of such vengeance when it sounds like the wench was just as, if not more, douchey.

They are both douches, and they have been douched by me. Although, not as satisfying as I had hoped, it still feels good to have done what I did. Also, IF I ever meet the male douche again, he will be confronted. Only reason I key'd his car, was because I just happened to see it was parked out front of some store.

So the previous anger and car keying meant what? She amazing in the sack or something?
Well, "amazing" is probably not the word, but I would say that she used to ride horses for 10 years, and other than that, she was most surely above average. The thing with keying and stuff, you know - irrational anger. Shit happens. Not that I regret it - I could have done worse things, that I would have ended up regretting. Material damage is nothing to regret.

Some men doesnt deserve a manly battle, some men deserve to see his only source of entertainment taken away from him and his wallet thin until he realize, this chick aint worth it.

Never once had a problem with another dude over my (ex) girlfriend. It never happened to me, firstly, and secondly, when a girl wants to break up with me, I always tell them they'll never get a second chance. They still leave me, and then regret it once they realize how awesome I actually am. Too fucking bad ladies, a little too late.
Oh, and I saw you mentioning a video. Don't go public with it, it's unmanly as shit. No matter how retarded she was or whatever, going so much down to that level is just dishonorable. Nobody is worth me dishonoring myself. Vengeance is pitiful, usually.

I did myself - her parents funded hers. I have been saving money for this trip since I started working as a 14-year old. Whenever I would get money for christmas or birthdays - bonuses, money back in taxes - stuff like that - they would go into my account - and I have not even used it all.

I wouldn't recommend doing that. It will only backfire. It's unmanly, it will harm your reputation, it's actually illegal, and her douche boyfriend will probably start a fight. Even if you then win a subsequent punch-up, you're on the unjustified side.
She's not worth trying to win back, or getting petty revenge upon. Just fill your life with you own pursuits and be happy that you've escape from someone who was actually that vapid and slutty. She will always be the lower person and that in itself, with time, will be the satisfaction you can hold. You'll feel like shit but it's effectively chemo from the disgust of being treated like that.
You can of course piss them off as much as you want, but do it with humour. Be nonchalant to their relationship. If you meet her cut through all the bullshit when she's let her guard down, and just laugh at how ridiculous her partner is.
Not trying to be a White Knight, it's just the right way to handle crap like this.

Ya, I knows. Only, us Danes are as bloody cynical as the brits are - or most of Them
Are anyways. All this "Let Them Be together, that is Good enough revenge itself" and "Be Happy you missed out on her on time" - that don't really count for Much win up here in the cold north. Sure, I am glad this happened sooner rather than later. But socially, this marks me as "weak" cause I could not 1) hold on to her, and 2) did not win her back. That is how Danes measure their equals. Sadly.
Tzu Men
09-06-2012, 06:51 PM
Yeah that would be shit. The only solution available is to try again with someone else, who's a lot better, and succeed at keeping hold of them and everything else. You can't erase this apparent failure but you can show that you have the mettle to continue regardless.
People won't see you as weak if you're with someone in the future who you like more and is better in almost every way. You can't have a meaningful victory if there wasn't a struggle.
Otherwise make some bitch out of Lego or something, Danes are great at that.

Culinary may seem easy since your cooking, working with food. But believe me it is not, and far more complicated. You don't automatically have greatness threshed upon you, you most earn it. Work for it.

You are taking this as a motherfucking HUGE compliment. To me, not a lot of things make me happier, than when people interest and engage themselves in what they put in their mouths to survive (NO PENIS JOKES HERE MIBS!) and to what food is in general. My above statement was my opinion on how awesome I think it is that you are doing culinary - having said this, feel free to ask me anything, should you need to. It seems I know quite a lot more, than I thought I did. (I am taking a 12-week course on how to run a restaurant as a business, and I passed my "calculations exam" with an A - and I suck at these kinds of math. "Calculations" is the term, for when you have a dish, and you need to figure out how much you need to charge for said dish. This includes not only the ingredients taken into consideration, but also the wages for waiter, electricity, rent, chef's wage, bla-bla-bla - and in the end, how much you will earn from this dish. Advanced stuff :P)

Around 30 mins - and I will provide the list of ingredients in advance, as well as I will have pre-prepared some of the things ahead - stuff like stock i.e. I will do before I will start the stream. Possibly some garniture as well.
It will be panroasted duck with a sauce of cranberry, duckstock and cream, pickled red cabbage, white steamed potatoes and maybe some more. I will figure out later on. If you want desserts, I can do that as well, and maybe extent to the show to an hour perhaps. Depends on what kind of dessert I will do.

I haven't been on here in a while (something like a year?), if anybody still remembers me. By the way, this is weird, but basically everything I've ever said about my "life" on this forum was a total lie. I'm no retarded druggie metal-head, that was just a hilariously entertaining persona to play on a crappy anime forum. According to that story, I'd be like 21 this year or something. I'm actually just turning 17 this year, an aspiring photographer, and very involved in school. 'Nuff said.
I know that nobody will care about this, but I used to talk to a lot of people on here and felt kinda bad for faking a personality. Eh.

Oh, I found an old Pentax SLR film camera in my house yesterday with four different lenses... I'm not too familiar with film cameras, so I'm not sure how this works, but when I set it to manual focus, I have to turn the Av dial on the lens to adjust the aperture, but for some reason the rest of the camera's functions won't work unless the Av dial is set to "auto". Which is a pain in the ass. Do you know how to fix this problem?
I'm really not too knowledgeable about film cameras either. If it's not too old though it may just have aperture controls on the camera, I have an older lens with an aperture ring but it only works on my DSLR when it's on "Auto" as well. I might be more helpful if you can post pics of the lens and camera in question.
Have you tried using any other brands of DSLR? Nikon, Sony, Pentax? I've got a (now broken) Nikon myself, I personally found it much more comfortable to hold and to have better menus than Canon.

I'll try to do so, because I really have no idea how to fix it.
I used a lame Lumix DSLR, and it wasn't anything special, nor very easy to use. I haven't used anything other than the Rebel so far. Ah, I've heard that from a few people, actually. When comparing the two brands with point-and-shoots (I have a little Nikon Coolpix S6300 and a Canon Powershot A2200) I actually liked the Canon menu layout more than the Nikon's, but of course I can't decide which I like better until I use an actual DSLR in both brands. I'm saving up to get a camera this summer, but I'm still not sure which to choose from.
FUCK YEAH I HELPED SOMEONE. LOOK AT HOW AWESOME I AM EVERYONE.

Not random shit, working with DSLR's in my Digital Photo II class at school. And I don't quite have a portfolio thrown together yet, but I'll post one eventually.
Also, Mal, a couple years ago you recommended checking out some Scott Kelby books. His stuff is actually really helpful. Thanks.
His photography books are amazing. I was lucky enough to take a typography class at the World Photoshop Convention taught by Scott Kelby personally. Also took a photo retouching class via Lightroom and Photoshop by the man. He's pretty cool in person.

Yes, precisely. And being a poser is only fun to an extent, so around last year I realized how shockingly dumb it is to pretend to be someone else. Besides, I was like 13 or 14 when I joined this forum so it makes sense that I was a retard. XD
Spiegel: You actually got to MEET him? Woah, that's seriously fantastic. He seems like he'd be a really fun person to hang around with. He writes so casually, it makes it 98707352 easier to understand things while also making his books seem inviting. I wish I could take a REAL photo class... Though I get four college credits out of this class at the end of the year, so that's pretty great.
Mal: It depends on whether or not I can get the job I've applied for. If I get hired, I want to get something maybe in the $500-$800 range, plus whatever I need to set aside to get a bit of gear to start with and possibly another lens. I'm very willing to invest in an expensive camera, but if I don't start making real money soon I'll probably be in or less than the $200~$400 price range, which likely would have to cover everything else I get as well. I still need to decide on a camera though, and I'm not too sure how much the good ones run for.
Well I'm trying to save up for the $3,000 Nikon D800, but I know people who have the D3100 and D5100, which are about $300-$500 so you can get a decent camera for a nice price. That's probably a good place to start, but keep in mind that the newer, less expensive Nikons won't support auto focus on older lenses. Some of those old lenses are really nice, so I would still recommend going with Nikon and eventually getting a nicer camera like the D7000 (or it's eventual replacement) if you really get into photography.

Oh, that IS a nice price... And it would probably be a good idea for me to start with something that isn't terribly fancy until I have a good foundation and enough knowledge to really use a nicer, more expensive model. I'll definitely look into the Nikons when I begin my camera hunt. Why can't the newer cameras support older lenses? I thought one of the best charms of DSLRs was the interchangeable lenses, so you'd think people would be upset that they have to buy new lenses as well as the new camera... Thanks for the tips! Online sources are helpful but I personally learn a lot more from actually speaking to someone. I'm really interested in photography and would like to make a career out of it if possible, if I don't go into a science field.
Oh wow, I just looked up the D7000. Expensive, but rightfully so! That's a gorgeous piece of camera. ;w;
The D800 is essentially the D7000 but with a larger sensor, meaning higher imagine quality and significantly improved low-light performance.
As for the lenses, older AF lenses had the gearing but used a motor built into the camera. However, newer AF-S have the autofocus motor built into the lens so the newer cameras don't have the motor built into them anymore. As a result, you have to manually focus some lenses on some cameras, but other than that most standard Nikon lenses will work on newer cameras regardless of age.

I looked up the D800 as well. I like that one even more... $3,000! That is probably the next step up after I buy and learn how to use a camera well. Are there any other benefits to a larger sensor? If one was taking more outdoor shots in good daylight, would that be a benefit?
Ah, I see. Is focusing manually a bad thing? The Pentax camera I found has an AF function, but most of the focusing was done by turning the dials on the actual lens and pushing a ring up and down to zoom (which is a lot of fun!). Do newer DSLR's do that also, or is it all autofocus?
A larger sensor basically just gets you more detail and more light. Extra detail is usually translated into extra mega pixels, which is useful for landscape photography or for large prints. Generally landscapes are done at a narrow aperture (f8-f11) so extra light can be useful if you're doing late evening/night landscape photography.
Autofocus does a really good job of getting sharp focus really quickly, so it's more accurate and significantly quicker than focusing manually. Zoom is always operated manually with the lens ring, and manual focusing can be done as well if you want. Some lenses have set focus gearing and an auto/manual switch, but some have gearing set up so you can use auto focus and then manually adjust the focus with no need for a switch.

Ohh, okay. So, do cameras with larger sensors always take better quality photos than those with smaller ones, or does it depend on what the other settings are? Also, while further meddling with my Pentax, no matter what I tried, the image was ALWAYS underexposed. I couldn't get it to brighten up at all. I tried changing the ISO and shutter speed and it still did nothing.
I can see why the autofocus would be convenient, then... Especially if there wasn't enough time to focus manually and you needed to shoot fast, I'd imagine. Does photo quality go down when you zoom in to the subject? Suppose there's a bird on a roof that's so far away you have to zoom in to the maximum. Would there be a lot of noise or would it look the same as if it wasn't zoomed in? When using little point-and-shoot cameras the quality does seem to go down slightly, but I haven't tested this on a DSLR, so perhaps it's different?
Larger sensors are stupid expensive, no manufacturer will bother putting a larger sensor into a camera that will take shitty photos.
Zooming way in on point-and-shoot cameras usually means you go into digital zoom, which is just like zooming in with Photoshop. Doesn't work. Zooming with DSLRs is entirely optical so the worst you can expect is a little bit of distortion, mostly around the edges of the image, but it depends on te quality of the lens.

I only have to wait 7 months for that. I'm spending my junior and senior year at the community college in my city, free tuition through the Running Start program. Homework, here I come. T_T
When I went through Orientation for university, someone said that your time in the classroom to time spent doing homework and studying should be 1:3. I managed a 2.8 GPA just fine at about 1:1.

That ratio frightens me. I'm a terrible procrastinator, and I already struggle with getting things done last minute, and staying on-task while studying is difficult. However, I've become a bit obsessive (and competitive) with my grades this year, so I plan on spending more time on homework. A 2.8 GPA is pretty good for the amount of time you spent, I'd imagine. Somehow I scraped through last semester with a 3.7, despite the fact that I never study and suck at homework. I think it's a pretty decent GPA though, because AP classes are hard. XD

On a side note, I just listened to Beat Happening for the first time... My God, I haven't been living. Don't Mix the Colors is the greatest song ever. XD
My parents have cable, so I had it when I still lived with them. Since moving out, I have only had cable for three months: When my ISP/Cable company offered me a trial of TV and internet for less than I was paying for just internet. Got the deal and then cancelled it when the trial was over.
tl;dr cable company paid me $60 to have TV for three months.

Yeah, getting paid to have TV? That's fantastic...
They're this really neat lo-fi basement pop band. XD And same here, plus lots of other things! Have you ever listened the Microphones (or Mount Eerie, same frontman)? Phil Elverum is a freaking genius. In the past year and a half I've discovered Sonic Youth, Deerhunter, Atlas Sound, Beach House, The Postal Service, The Flaming Lips, Fleet Foxes, Yo La Tengo, Wolf Parade, Youth Lagoon, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Drones, Ty Segall... The list goes on. There's so much great music out there.
Mal: That song was actually beautiful. XD Good anime, too.
Anyone who's seen the first season of Spice and Wolf, the theme song is called Tabi no Tochuu by Natsumi Kiyoura, and the full version of the song is just wonderful. It's in Japanese of course, but aside from lyrics, if you listen to the instrumentation it's just freaking incredible. There's so much production into it, it kills me.

Any specific song suggestions?
Edit: Nevermind, I just looked up random songs on Youtube. That was seriously rad.... It's like they took some 20's swing, jazz, and a mariachi band and compacted it into a crazy new sound. The female vocalist sounds like something right out of an old black and white film. Some of the videos were just amazing.
2nd edit: Upon further inspection, they appear to be french, so no mariachi. That's an interesting sound they have going there.

I freaking love The Postal Service. They kind have some Death Cab-esque sounds but WAAAY better. The other ones are definitely interesting. Neutral Milk Hotel's best album is basically about the singer's imagined relationship with Anne Frank... Besides some rather grotesque imagery, the lyrics are incredible and the overall sound is just crazy. All those other bands are great too, in my opinion. ^.^
