I know lots of people hate dubbed stuff, but I think you can find some good dubs. I think Funimation and Pioneer have some good voices for the animes they get. I really happen to like the dubs for Trigun (Pioneer) and Fullmetal Alchemist (Funimation). But other animes (specifically ANYTHING that 4Kids got) was ruined in dubbing. This includes Shaman King and One Piece and such.
What's everyone else think?

heh keitaro dont try to be smart there buddy......let me correct you..........you said to close this forum...i think u should have said to close this thread..........and another point some dubs are good too not all dubbed versions suck and not everyone hates it....for me i like the dub versions but prefer the sub version for naruto
i do like some anime that are dubbed, the first anime (yuyu hakusho) was dubbed in filipino done by some of our good dubbers, i guess boils down to taste and the group that dubbed it... :]

the first anime I saw was dubbed, The Guyver. And a classic one at that. The next I watched both dubbed and subbed, and prefered the subbing, as I could feel the real emotions that came across from the original language. That was 3x3 Eyes. A classic. I then, opted for the subbing whenever possible, so that I could hear the original intent from the voice actors. In the old days, more than a year or two ago, dubs sucked. SEriously sucked. But in recent days, the dubbing is getting better, there are talented english speaking voiceactors about, for instance, Fruits Basket is an amazing dub. Granted, I prefer the sub, but that's because I'm used to it now and wouldn't really want to watch in dub out of habit/choice. I'm trying to learn japanese, albeit slowly, but the subbings help me vastly.
I will watch in dub if it's a dvd with the option, and I'm showing a friend who isn't used to subtitles, but I will ask them to try both at some point.

Well, i prefer... everything to be in it's original form... whatever this is... anime, movie, etc. etc.
So, i'm not fan of dubed versions... and i prefer the subbed ones! ;) :)

yes i would agree, just keeping everything the way it is, is best.

You seem to have alot of knowledge of older animes. Guyver is classic.. The subbs werent as good as they are. Now you have great karoke and super good translations(depends wich group). But over all in think Dubbed versions suck. They are getting better, but if you check out Samurai deeper Kyo Dubbed you will cringe. Its horrible. If the Japenese character has a deep voice use a deep voice, if a guy has a female voice or acts real feminie then use the right voice to match that particular person. Another example. Inuyasha HAs a surfer guy voice in the english dub. All the voices for this one suck.

i would prefer subbed because it help you read faster than before cause if you dont read fast enough you lose the sentence and precious watching time cause then you have to go back and replay it and read faster or from where you left off! and its funnier hearing the japenese voices (no offense and Japenese people) because everyone in america is used to our voices and how they sound
i do like some dubbs cause then you can watch more of the show then the words but i prefer subbed

To me, all American voices just sound the same. They seriously do, and I get bored and annoyed with the whole agenda. Another thing is that they never seem to speak loud enough so I can understand them. There are some exceptions but I prefer watching them dubbed in German or just plain sub. The voices in Naruto all fit their characters and that's one of the many reasons it's a good anime. When I watched a Yu-Gi-oh episode in England I was like "Argh, damnit, what is this shit?!". I have had enough disappointments in life. >.<

A classic case of ruining it, is ADVs dub of Azumanga Daioh.. That sucks.

subs is soo much better.....cause the emotions come out better like in getbackers the character kazuki. but there r some better dubs i thought dbz was a better dub cause the voice sound better..!!
It all depends on wether or not I've seen the subbed version first. If i watched it subbed version for a while Im probably gonna hate the dubbed version. But if Ive on every seen the dubbed version, I would probably like it. Besides some dubs are good, the Inu Yasha i come on tv has some good dubs.

Dude sorry but Inuyasha on Tv is horrible. I think Shippo is the only one Who has an ok voice. A good example is when Inuyasha screams SANKOTESO.. Say the damm thing. Or when Sango says HIRIAKOSU. AHHH in english its horrible. They edit it to much. Also when a anime comes to the US. The subbed version is usually translated the same way the American voices Dubb it.If you ever notice theres no Karoke no true translation. Some words in Japanese are ment to really stay in japanese. When i translate Spanish at my job. You have to losely translate. Some words are Properly translated but make no sense in a sentence.Thats why certain subb groups are better then others.

I've lost intrest in dubbed animes. Ever since they ruined Rurouni Kenshin's voice. Sub is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better.
Subbed > Dubbed.
I hate dubbed animes. They ruin everything. It just looks stupid.
However the only thing I hate about subbed anime is if you try to get a screen shot sometimes you get stuck with little sub titles at the bottom. x_x

I live in Canada so I think that we have a differnt one. At the end of the show it says something about being dubbed in Vancouver. So yeah, I think its differnt.

Exactly what I think. and byfuzzerabbit or whatever, that's only if they get subbed by 4Kids or Funimation or another sucky dubber.

i would prefer to watch dubbed anime. but a lot of times the voices suck. i think most people just don't like how many dubbed animes are edited. example being 4kids, who ruined shaman king, one piece and yu-gi-oh. while still enjoyable, they would be way better unedited.

I've seen some ok dubbed animes but seems like in general, dubbed animes suck. No offense, but the American dubbers don't/can't seem to capture the right tone/essence. And most of those that I've seen feature whiny voices that I really, really cant stand. Subs are usually better - I'll just read the subs, listen to the nuances of the japanese voices, and imagine the characters saying the subtitles with the same emotion as in the japanese. Works fine with me. :)

subbed anime is way better, you can hear the real voice actors, not some english "I want but can't" ones... and you can always learn some japanese ;)

True. The voice of Yugi and Yami Yugi in Yu-Gi-Oh are just plain weird. Messed up dub. But Naruto for example is a perfect sub. =D

i thought yu-gi-oh was better dubbed in english....but yeah i also generally agree on sudded anime..!!
Sometimes subs are better than dubs but it depends on the voice actor

I like subbed Animes, especially the Naruto-Anime.
The German Version is very bad...
I prefer the Sub but I hate subtitles =/

Who goes around reviving threads that are nearly a year old? =/
But seriously--Subs are only better because they're the original. When we were watching the dubs and had no idea what subs were--we probably thought they sounded retarded in Japanese.

I preffer subed, because in my country we don't talk in english or japanese so much. Properly almost nobody doesn't speak japanese, but we have english at school. And it is easier for me if it is written what they talk. I hope that you understand what I am talking about, because I am not very good at english
