This is why America needs to change its educational system to be more like the UK's. Dumb people will always be dumb and smart people are going to stay smart, and no amount of encouragement can offset this. Dumb people can still accomplish things, and smart people aren't guaranteed to, but it's flat-out lying to tell people that everyone is equal in every way.

no it's pretty much the same here as I went to optional schools and was in the enrichment program in elementary school and admitted into the C.L.U.E program (creative learning in an unique environment) during junior high and High school you had to maintain an 3.5 to be in both those programs

It's hard to focus on school work when you have shitty surroundings , abusive parents , a society that tells you you aren't going to amount to shit, a culture that tells you being smart is like being a virgin.. both are a no- no, it's sad really

Well thats the way most black culture is in the American neighborhoods I've been in . Emphasis is put on being a man and that is defined by how many women you fuck , how good of a hustler you are, who's got the freshest clothes, who can fight, and that's just coming form the peers. Add to that a lot of Black kids come from a single parent home .. usually the mother and you have a bad mix for failure even given the natural intelligence. Some fathers that are around are only there part time. drugs and alcoholism is prevalent, and often nutrition is an issue,

Hard to concentrate on school when you know you have to walk to school, you are gonna get teased for not having the best clothes, so that creates a self esteem problem, then there's homework but you can't do it cause you're hungry, and you have to worry if your dad if he's around is going to come home drunk and beat your mom.. school takes a back seat to all this!

There's an "Honors" class system, but "what gets you into Honors" is such BS it isn't even funny. Get half decent grades in a standard or College Prep course? Up to honors! Have your parents waive you up? You're in Honors!

You at least have that. We in Portugal don't. Many times educators tried to install an "ABCE" system (A for the good students, B for the normal students, C for the dumb students and E for the special education students). The "E" part stuck in education, but parents cried foul at the "ABC" part, because they thought their children should be all in A because they're oh so smart!

I had to go to a weekend school for Intellectually Gifted Children to at least be with fellow students that didn't ask the same stuff twice or thrice. Or four times... or five times... I hated school so much >.<

that sucks, sounds like our private school system parents buying good grades, but yeah our system is basic, we just get judged on our intelligence, the behaviour was pretty much the same though constantly got told that we should behave better because 'we're the smart ones' lol we were teenagers afterall, poor dumbfucks probably got told to be quiet because they need too.

In my school you need to have at least a 93 average in a class. But Honors is like the same shit, the kids aren't even as smart. The program that I'm in is called "ARP"(Advance regents program) and since just 2 years ago they atarted it in 7th grade, they allowed me to take the exams. So in my freshman year of high school I took Physics and trig. In my sophomore year(Now) I take Pre-Calculus and Chemistry(Cause I skipped it to take Physics =/). But I failed the physics regents and got to take it in January =/.
