Akatsuki ranks

This is how their strenght is ranked:
1 = strongest ... 9 = weakest

Orochimaru was 4th, Sasori was 9th, Leader is probably way beyond them all
As you see the commonly underated Deidara is by far the strongest of Akatsuki
The female Akatsuki is second and Itachi 3rd (right above former member Orochimaru 4th)

edit *hum a spoiler button would be cool
I can help you installing one, contact me admins

I sorry but you certainly read a mistranslation
Kakuzu actually said: "I'm going to kill you someday"
Other than that Naruto is way too stupid to even start thinking about beating a genius and tactician such as Deidara (who considers bijuu "dumb and weak")

Re: Akatsuki ranks

Fuck! This ain't the order!
1. Akatsuki Leader
2. Kisame (The leader even said he was the strongest member)
3. Itachi
4. Zetsu
5. Deidara
6. Sasori
7. Hidan
8. Kakuzu
9. Tobi (obviously)

Re: Akatsuki ranks

I've already had something like this, I called it the "Ring Theory."

零, Rei/zero - zero/nothing/overflow: worn by the Akatsuki leader.

青龍 - せいりゅう, Seiryū - Green/blue Dragon - God of East and Spring: worn by Deidara.

白虎 - びゃっこ, Byakko - White Tiger - God of West and Autumn: worn by the unknown member.

朱雀 - すざく, Suzaku - Hōō (literally "Red Sparrow") - God of South and Summer: worn by Itachi.

玄武 - げんぶ, Genbu - Tortoise (literally "Mysterious Warrior") - God of North and Winter: worn by Zetsu. Zetsu's ring actually has the kanji 亥 (Kai, boar). The two kanji are somewhat similar in appearance though, which suggests an error by either the artist or the reader/translator.

空陳 - くうちん, Kūchin - The Void: formerly worn by Orochimaru and is still in his possession.

南斗 - なんじゅ, Nanju - Southern Star: worn by Kisame.

北斗 - ほくと, Hokuto - Northern Star: worn by Kakuzu.

三台 - さんたい, Santai - The Three Levels: worn by Hidan.

玉女 - ぎょくにょ, Gyokunyo - The Virgin: currently worn by Tobi, formerly worn
by Sasori.

^---- Taken from Wikipedia.org.

They wear them like this:

Leader - Right Thumb
Deidara - Right Index
??? - Right Middle
Itachi - Right Ring
Zetsu - Right Pinky
Orochimaru - Left Pinky
Kisame - Left Ring
Kakuzu - Left Middle
Hidan - Left Index
Sasori/Tobi - Left Thumb

I believe that it does involve rank, so I support the theory. Deidara was only taken by surprise because it's not everyday you see a Sharingan user let alone the Mangekyou. That was a pretty unexpected thing, and I don't think he'd have prepared for that.

EDIT: From above me.

2. Kisame (The leader even said he was the strongest member)
No, that's wrong. He has the most chakra, not skill.

1. Akatsuki Leader
2. Itachi
3. kisame
4. Zetsu
5. Deidara
6. Sasori
7. Hidan
8. Kakuzu
9. Tobi
i think kisame might be weaker, because they wouldnt put the two strongest together and itachi is the second. this list is just a guess

Re: Akatsuki ranks

Well, me and YK based ours off of the order the fingers go in, which, err, I guess would be more reliable. The weakest was probably Sasori, since he was the first one to die, as does happen in most animes and situations.

no sasori>deidara - he was the leader of the two
kisame has the greatest amount of chakra because of his strength, hes not the strongest
kakuzu>hidan he says one of these days i will kill you

Exactly Tapioca! Thanks for your quality post.
The 9 akatsuki rings divinities (don't include Leader's "zeroth") of the ring are from an old chinese folklore.
They are ranked from most powerfull divinity to the less powerfull.
strongest = Blue Dragon (so obvious) worn by Deidara
second = White Tiger (obvious too) worn by the mysterious Kunoichi
...
...
weakest = Gyokunyo formerly worn by Sasori (currently by Tobi)

this ranking makes perfect sense:

Sasori the weakest Akatsuki died first and Deidara is so powerful he considers bijuu "weak" (remember than the dumb one tail Shukaku dominated even Gamabunta with ease)

Itachi is above Orochimaru according to that ranking which makes sense, but Itachi is far from being the strongest, he isn't even in the top tiers (remember Itachi and Kisame talked about their order received from Akatsuki "top tiers")

Kazuku and Hidan are about the same ranking (7th and 8th) which makes sense as well. none really gives orders.

That is wrong. Sasori acted like a boss but he was actually extremely weak.
He got killed by an old hag and a low chuunin. Deidara pwns bijuus with ease.

However, there could be more to Sasori than meet the eyes. I believe sasori could be the real leader of Akatsuki and split his body in several pupets. Just a theory to be confirmed tho.

Re: Akatsuki ranks

Or it's similiar to the Shikamaru and Ino thing, Shikamaru is stronger, though because Ino likes to be in charge, he doesn't mind it. Mleh...

Re: Akatsuki ranks

wow, Y~Kabuto
most sense I've heard all day

I agree with that

but what if Deidara died? would Tobi have got his ring instead?
the rings may have to do with rank, but it's not for sure

also, if the rankings went on how some of you put it, the strongest would be in teams, and the weaker ones would also be in the same team
wouldn't it be better if they put one strong one, and one weak on together
so the weaker on would gain experience and power.

Re: Akatsuki ranks

Well if the rings work that way, I can think of it to be something like this...

Leader - Blue-Hair/Orochimaru
Kakuzu - Hidan

Those are the only pairings what would be odd. Though if Orochimaru was with Hidan or Kakuzu, it may make some sense if they had to move them around, and got unbalanced after that.

Re: Akatsuki ranks

interesting but i doubt deidara is stronger than itachi...it just seems...stupid?
i mean he lost his arm to gaara and kakashi... if it were itachi...he would defeat both of them with no scratch on him... also you can't act like a boss when your the weaker one... it just doesn't seem like kishi's doing... deidara is not the strongest or 2nd strongest...

there is more to this ring thing than we think

ShinobiKnight 08-05-2006 09:51 PM

Re: Akatsuki ranks

I doubt that Deidara is the strongest. The only proof you have is his ring, and that's not much. Sure, a lot of Naruto seems to be based on Japanese lore, but I think Kishimoto-sama could throw us a curveball and toss in something that goes completely against old legends. It is a fictional series he made up, after all.
