Ok ok for all those Batman fans, DC has dropped another animated title...The movie gives background as more of a prequel to The Dark Knight Rises. We see an aged Bruce Wayne, 55 retired watching as his city is becoming a battleground. As the mutants are taking over, people such as Harvey Dent is released from Arkhym Asylum. The climax takes over and Bruce is forced to give in to his inner demons and temptation and resumes the role as Batman. At this point, obviously Jason Todd, has been killed off. Robin/Knightwing doesn't have any sort of relationship with Bruce. So the loner goes in and fights for truth and justice once again. Batman is old, he isn't as stealthy. In the end he needs a partner. In comes Robin number three (I think lol). Carrie a young dazzling up and comer. As the new Robin takes her place, Batman has a strategy that will shake the very foundation of Gotham. As Batman takes on his foes, Two Face and the Mutant uprising...another old villain finally takes center stage as Part two of the awesome animated movie begins next year.


check it out, totally worth a number of watches.... EPIC in every sense of the word!

These two points say it's not "more of a prequel to the Dark Knight Rises". Dent is dead and the universe of the Batman trilogy is grounded in reality where mutants don't exist.

Yes this is based off Frank Millers work. This is not officially a prequel, like a prequel it does give us background that wasn't in the movies about Batman/Bruce Wayne. The movie is stated as ten years later (In the movie after the whole 2 face incident.) In this story Harvey is alive..(as he should of been in the movie.) Introducing a threat like Mutants would not have worked for the silver screen. Esp coming from Joker and Harvey Dent as villains. A different take on the plot is all this is. TDKRises is based heavily off TDKReturns. Many ways this shows us the differences in Nolans and Millers work.

I hated the voice actor for Commissioner Gordon

EDIT: I also liked the animated introduction of Carrie. Is it me or did this remind anyone of the Batman Gotham Knight? There was a scene where batman is driving a tank and beating up bad guys....I swear they took that scene and included it in this movie during the Mutant fight...

This movie is based solely on Frank Miller's time with DC in writing the Dark Knight Returns arc. It has no ties to The Dark Knight Rises. You confirm that yourself with the "a different take on the plot" bit.

Except The Dark Knight Rises isn't based solely off The Dark Knight Returns. It is also based on Knightfall (Bane's emergence/deduction of Batman's identity/breaking his back) and No Man's Land (Bane isolating Gotham from the world), neither of which Miller was involved with. It's not even "based heavily" off the Dark Knight Returns. So trying to say these two stories show the difference between Nolan and Miller's styles is a moot point, since Nolan wasn't working solely off of Miller's work.

I never said it was based completely off TDKReturns, heavily...IMO yeah, yes it does include other inspirational works. Nolan said himself he used TDKReturns and many other works to help him mold his story. I completely agree with that point as Bane is not involved in that storyline. You can watch the movie and watch this animated movie and easily see the similarities. Anyway lol thanks for the comment homie. As I wanted everyone to just check it out.

It's pretty awesome; can't wait for part 2. Seeing oldman Batman made me want to play MGS4.

I know right Scientia! Sucks we have to wait until Part 2. I can't wait to see the Joker run wild. Reminds me a little of The Return of the Joker story line..Batman can't get any better!
