The Mars Curiosity Rover Pictures Thread
Has anybody else been following a long? I love checking up on all the pictures it's sending back. Pretty awesome.
This rover is as big as a compact car, has HD video cameras on it, and not to mention a myriad of other scientific instruments (high resolution microscope, spectrometers, etc). Now that it's safely landed. We have a lot to learn. http://imageshack.us/a/img163/4682/2...0marsrover.jpg Now, the rover sends data to Earth by taking pictures, storing the images in its 2 GB flash drive, and sends it to its linked satellite called Odyssey. Odyssey is only in communication for like 8 Minutes at a time. Once Odyssey has the data, it then sends it back to Earth. When Curiosity landed, Odyssey was only in comm range for a few minutes after it landed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhUbu...feature=g-hist https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-L...3/IMG_7093.JPG http://i.space.com/images/i/20233/or...jpg?1344349184 |
