best invention of the past century.

Which invention of the past century had the greatest impact in human life?

I believe the internet had the biggest impact i human life in the past century. no one to date who created the internet. however the most credible theory is that scientists from a research facility called CERN were the first to utilize a created network to rapidly share messages, from that point on peole kept improving on that program until it became the info. highway that we use today.

Woot first post

Internet for Sure and Robots.

The internet can connect sooo many people in the world. Right now we are communicating. The inernet has revolutionalized the way we work. Before we used to stress over calling people, sending them letters, going to the library but now we can conveniently find and research almost anything we can email anyone or IM anyone in an instant. We can even webcam and play games. We meet people. But with great technology come faults. Poeple can invade our privacy and they can stalk us doing under aged things. (i.e Pornography) So in the end the internet is still one of the best inventions.

Robotics has also amazed many people. Robotics will Change our world, they may cause more people to be unemployed and on the streets of our world. Robots can do many things we cannot, they can go on dangerous missions they can handle chemicals, they can do things far more efficient. In the future countless people will lose thier jobs to robots. Just think. Robots are as smart as we program them, so basically the ideas are endless. In the begining u may say hey robots are expensive. But in the long run companies could save thousands or millions. lets say a robot is 100 thousand dollars. THey could save thousands in around 1-2 years. THe robot can do things faster, they don't need to be paid either. They can work over night. A robot could quite possibly do the work or 4. Lets say each person makes 25000-50000 dollars a year. In 2 years you can save 100 thousand dollars double of what the robot is worth. So in the future the world will be changed, even now we have robots doing assembly line work at a car factory or any factory in the world. So think in the future we could have robots doing household choruse or anything we wanted.

Robots and the internet are different things but they make everyday life easier in different ways. so it is hard to chose one that is better.

true but it ruins our environment. Althought it is a great invention the StreetCar (i think on made in a few cities in Canada) are better. Provides , Fast safe, environmentally friendly transportation. Automobiles have provided better and faster service But the street car is then next best thing + protects our environment.

I agree that the internet is the greatest invention of the last 100 years, but I also think that cell manipulation is one. Thanks to this technology, we can now cure illnesses that we couldn't 100 years ago.

I would say it is missules and the atomic bomb because it has changed the face of the world forever. War has changed in the way that when we hear about casualties on our side it is only a few in a month granted any death is bad but it inables us to stay far away and win. Also if it was not for atomic weapons WWII would have lasted years longer and then after it ended we would have had a hot war with Russia and the US as we know it could posily be no more. The bomb is a major deterent from fighting amongst major millitary powers.

Id have to say Computers, they have allowed contact to any par tof the world through writing, sound or video. Nearly everything is done on computers these days and its a lot more organized then what it would be without them. I believe that if they were not created we would be able to keep going but now I feel that if they were just taken away that mankind would slowy die away because of the dependence we place on them.

I'm stuck between computers, the Internet, or highly effective weaponry. <.<

What? >.>

Seriously, the computer part is a big "DUH." Same with the Internet. But the new and "improved" weapons used by countries is a bit "cleaner" then it was in the 1860's. I know, if you get shot today it will still be a bitch, you may die, you may lose a limb, blah, blah, blah. But in the 1860's, you get shot, even in the shin, your damn leg has to come off, and then you have to get the disease from being amputated with an infected saw used on some other poor guy who died from dysentry.

nope it doesn't, it have to be the past century, electrity was invented in the 1879.

@LN wepons meh, it is the cause of deaths and starts war. i would like to think that we shouldn't need wepons.

@chojimullet same reason i dun think we should even need war to happen. When u think of it the Pro's and the Cons are bad. It could kill countless inoccent.

So i am still sticking with robotics. IN the fiuture you never know they could give amputee's a new hope and give them a moveable arm or legs.

So my opinions are based one hw they helped the world as a whole not just1 country.

Re: best invention of the past century.

I would have to say television. The TV is the fastest thing on earth to deliver info mainly because all you have to do is turn it on, and go to the news. And almost all households all over the world have it. That way, advertisement, entertainment etc have all been molded into one so that people's lives were changed by it. Also, TV has graphics. Pixels and megapixels. Without those, the computer would never have been invented. And if computers were never invented, then neither the internet. And to advertise computers and cars etc, the TV was used so that commercials and those companies could host shows so that the viewers can buy them. TV shows all sorts of things. And the viewer, once they are watching it, they can't really stop watching it. And it comes on randomnly so they don't know what is coming. People using internet type in what they want so they go to what they want to know in the first place. So many people worship the TV nowdays, people watch it in the car, during dinner, at night, in the morning, when they are bored, outside, at cafe's and bars heck, they even have it on phones now. Also, if someone wanted to spread info quickly, they would use the TV over the computer because the TV will show it regardless of whether people would want to see it or not. Whereas the computer, the command to see it must be done before looking at the info. Also, there are more TV's than computers in the world. Adding to that, TV's are much cheaper than computers. Therefore, the TV is the invention that inpacted our lives the most in the last century.

I would have to say the Micro chips. They allow us to use so many daily things, such as the modern computer, tv, micro waves all sorts of stuff contains micro chips

@LN- is that necessarilly the weaponry or is that medical science back then compared to medical science today
