Speak Japanese?

I've managed to gather a bunch of people to create a fansub group, however we are still short on staff.

The main thing we require are translators, do you speak Japanese and are willing to translate for us?

Our current projects are Sunabouzu and School Rumble. As most of you know, the groups that are subbing these are slacking off (Lunar and Wannabefansubs) so i've decided to take these up, they are popular animes and are not even being speed subbed.

If you don't know how to translate you can still help...you can time/typeset/encode/edit

Timing: You listen to audio of the anime and time the subtitles accordingly (advanced)
Typesetting: Making Karaoke, selecting fonts (advanced)
Encoding: Encoding the subtitles with the raw to make the final subbed piece (advanced)
Editing: This job just requires good english...you take the script from the translator and correct it for spelling, grammer, make sentences flow etc. You need to have strong english in order to do this.

I doubt I would find many people here, but I thought I would give it a shot.

Anyway if your interested and can do any of the things listed above then reply in this thread.

I could probably do the timing and editing.

MewRKW1 02-23-2005 03:37 PM

How hard is encoding?

Shak 02-23-2005 11:39 PM

There all difficult tasks...so if your new at any of them then I dont suggest you do it (editing is an exception perhaps).

I mean he was being sarcastic. o_o;

Bah, I guess I could always volunteer to edit, just to make this post on topic. My Engrish are good too! ;)

MewRKW1 02-27-2005 05:31 AM

my bad. yeah.

nma 02-27-2005 10:50 AM

Are those two animes the only ones that you're gonna do? Can we suggest some?

Shak 02-27-2005 02:47 PM

At this moment in time these are the only two on the list, maybe after we've got these two off the ground.

I need translators more than anything heh

OffTheChain 02-27-2005 03:18 PM

Kites 02-27-2005 04:23 PM

Sushi Sushi! baka Baka!

hotohori 02-27-2005 11:50 PM

^-- What the hell was that? :p

I could do the editing. :D Erm.. is it required/suggested that you read the manga of these (do they have any?) beforehand?

Sorry, I can't volunteer for the translators spot. I only took up 2 sems of japanese (very basic, at that) so I know that makes me equivalent to a 4-year-old's vocabulary (LOL... i read this somewhere from a site that was asking for translators.. but please do correct me if i'm/they're wrong - it'd do wonders for my crushed ego...:D ).

By the way, what program/software do you use in encoding the subs?

XiRo 03-01-2005 11:14 AM

I'm already helping to time.
But we really need translators. *cough* our current translators are a bit slow.
