Heard about this on the Colbert Report and I just had to put it up. The great thing about all this is that he got away from serving. Legal System vs. Wrinkly Dog Balls = WIN |

interesting... so you have been invited for jury duty before OG? |
Re: An interesting way to get out of jury duty
I have been selected once for jury duty but I couldn't come up with a good enough reason because at the time I didn't have a job or went to school so I couldn't escape. In the end I wasn't selected was free to go but it sucked waiting in the jury pool for three hours waiting to see if you were going to get selected.

thanks. that's new info to me. never knew you can get called for jury duty more than once. Judiciary in the Philippines doesn't support the Jury System. i was one of the proponents when Trial by Jury was suggested about 2 years ago. i think it's a more reassurance of a fair trial having a few select Jury to judge your case, instead of a single judge. |
Re: An interesting way to get out of jury duty
Wait. So, if the Philippines has no jury system, is it just trial-by-judge? Seems kind of un-democratic to me, if it is.

Re: An interesting way to get out of jury duty
unfortunately, it is. trial by judge only... the only thing different is that all decisions may be appealed to a higher court. all the way up to the supreme court. but no jury in all proceeding... owel... we have to live with it until it's changed.

Re: An interesting way to get out of jury duty
^I like that better. I'd rather be judged by someone who knows that the fuck is up, legal system wise, then a bunch of my dumbshit peers anyway, honestly.
Unless what I did was illegal, of course. Then I'd want a bunch of dumbshits judging me so I can have a chance to talk my way out of it. But, then again, it'd be my fault for getting caught in the first place. |
Re: An interesting way to get out of jury duty
^thank'd
(when will the thanks be back?) owel... |
Re: An interesting way to get out of jury duty
Maybe in America juries are made up of fuckwits. But over here, we're judged by tea-drinking gentlemen polymaths.
