Yup. There was 1 check that had the customer's name at the top, no address. The cashiers are supposed to write down the customer's driver's license, telephone number, and date of birth. There were 3 different ways right there to confirm the person was who they said they were. But I'll give them that one.

I hated working at that store anyway. They did a lot of shady stuff that didn't sit well with me when I transferred in.

I was treated worse than the people that were there before me. Every week the cashier supervisor would stand back and "evaluate" how we presented the protection plans. In the span of 2 evaluations I was first told I didn't press hard enough on the protection plan, then I was pressing too much. I didn't change a damn thing about my presentation. The way I was trained to present the replacement plans was inform what they were, then cover 3 things that might happen to the device, if the customer says no I would present 3 more things that might happen. If they said "no" again I would move on.

Several co-workers complained of favoritism. Which I witnessed a lot. That store in particular would keep EVERYONE well after closing for "group closing", making everyone clean every department. I would see several departments leave as soon as their area was cleaned, usually within 10 minutes of closing the store, and there was even a cashier that would leave as soon as we would close. Most of the time we were lucky to get out 20 minutes late.


I got a mark on my record because I mentioned that one of my co-workers reminded me of someone I worked with at a different Best Buy that I got fired because I confirmed to a manager that he showed up to work drunk.

I needed the money. Not many places where you can make over $9 an hour as a cashier. Plus I loved the discount.

Employee discount is 5% above cost. Fucking awesome when you're a gaming geek like me.

Can't file for unemployment when you are terminated. You can if you quit. I wasn't given the option to quit.

Hopefully in the next 3 years I'll have my Master's in Psychology and start working in a nice clinical practice.

That's weird. A friend of mine's mother worked at a Value Village thrift store and a couple weeks ago she decided to walk out with a pair of (2 dollar) shoes on her feet. She got caught and fired, but now she get's more unemployment money then she made actually WORKING.
