American Top Gear -_-
so yesterday i watched my first episode of American Top Gear
They were test driving Aston Martin's, one with a V8 and one with a V12 and the guy was talking about "You can only get this car up to 1 something-or-other-miles per hour, but the speedometer goes up to 2 some-odd miles per hour" so besides the fact that he's to stupid to understand limiting an engine, he then had the audacity to say "Is that a British thing? Lying?" MOTHER FUCKER. I was so fucking angry. IF he'd sounded like he was joking, that would have been fine, but he used the same serious tone for everything. His descriptions for the two cars while driving them sounded like how I used to describe cars, when i was 6, using simple, and honestly, not very descriptive words. It is an abomination. ON a positive note, they do well with muscle cars, they focus on (and say the word) power a lot, and they make the show appealing to muscle car enthusiasts (I think), other than the fact that all of the three hosts are as charismatic as dead fish. Oh, and lastly, although i can't really fault him for this, their "silent test driver," their Stig is fat and he slouches |
Re: American Top Gear -_-
What did you expect? It is an american take on a popular british show... it never ends well.

I love the UK version of Top Gear, the hosts are charismatic and their approach to the cars is detailed enough to answer all question without being nitpicking. They considered price, looks, power performance, stability on curves, adaptability to different terrains and worth of applications, among others. I even remember an episode where they compared the latest version of a car model (can't remember which, unfortunately) with the previous and said without hesitation that the extra price of the latest version due to new applications wasn't worth it because the performance improvement was barely noticeable and they weren't as intuitive as the previous version's applications. I don't understand the last thing that numinous said
@ACt: I expected it to be terrible, but i didn't expect them to accuse car manufacturers and countries, of lying I also didn't expect them to not understand ANYTHING about cars |
Re: American Top Gear -_-
Give them some time, it took the UK Top Gear quite a while to become the awesomeness you see before you today. In related news, Australia's Top Gear is pretty awesome too.

They were accusing the manufacturer of lying because the speedometer and the engine performance weren't matching, but everyone and their mothers (should) know that the difference is due to engine limitation (as you rightfully pointed out) for public safety, so I joked about their stupidity with them customizing a Rolls Royce with airplane engines to get crazy engine performances. |
Re: American Top Gear -_-
Anyone else find it endlessly entertaining with Tabs gets angry about things? (Other than Mal, probably.)

Re: American Top Gear -_-
I'm honestly unsure as to whether Mal still finds my outbursts funny after knowing me for 9 years
I've seen the Australian Top gear, it is rather good. hmmmm.... I've only seen the new series of top gear, so i actually don't know what the English one started out like. I may have to look into that |

^ Drew Carey? ew.

Re: American Top Gear -_-
Drew was kinda "meh". The rest of the whose line crew more than made up for him.

Re: American Top Gear -_-
I just read that Canada is Curling World Champion. Congrats, Great White North. On topic, I have never seen Top Gear, and probably never will. If it's about Oldtimers, it's another thing. They are awesome.

Re: American Top Gear -_-
British top gear is about all cars!(and boats, and trains, planes and motor bikes, depending on the episode)
3 wheeled cars, the very first cars, new cars, making strange things from cars, good roads, neat places AAAAAAAND guests |
