“You fucking masochist!” screamed Lily, letting go of Sakatsu and jumping in front of her. “You fucking idiot! You fucking…….fucking fuck fuck!” Lily stopped ranting when she heard a thud next to her like a body dropping. She turned to see Sakatsu on her knees, gripping her head, tears hitting the ground like rain beneath her.

Sakatsu screamed as rings of blue light pulsated from her body. They pushed Lily and the villagers back, a strong wind whipping Lily’s ponytail against her face as she tried to shield herself. “Sakatsu!” Lily cried as she barely made out a small dark figure within the middle of the light. Sakatsu was still gripping onto her head, screaming in pain as her body rose from the ground, her toes barely brushing the dirt anymore.

Lily threw her arms in front of her face and dug her heels into the ground. “Sakatsu!” Lily cried trying to push her way through to Sakatsu. It was futile. I’m not strong enough, she thought. I’m not strong enough to reach Sakatsu.

Just then, Lily saw out of the corner of her eye, a tall dark figure slowly making its way toward the middle of the blue swirling light. “Daisuke…” Lily whispered as she watched Daisuke’s upper body be thrown back by the sheer power. With some struggle, he straightened his body and pressed forward. “Dai!” Lily cried a little louder, trying to be heard over the roaring sound.

Lily felt her grip give way as she started to slide backwards. She wobbled slightly before regaining her balance. She kneeled down and gripped onto the dirt, anything solid to keep her there. She spat out pieces of her hair as her ponytail whipped through the air wildly. “Dai! Be careful!” she called, but even she had trouble hearing herself as the pulsations grew wilder.

Daisuke stood just a few inches from Sakatsu. He shielded his eyes from flying debris and the light. When he gained his balance, mostly, he reached forward and swiped at Sakatsu’s hand. He missed then tried again, this time latching his hand tight onto Sakatsu’s. When he had a firm grip, he pulled her down to his height then slowly slid his arms around her waist and held her tight. No words were spoken, as Daisuke closed his eyes and held her there until the wild blue energy and light dimmed softly. Daisuke and Sakatsu slid to the ground onto their knees, Sakatsu’s arm hung limply at her side but Daisuke kept his grip strong but gentle. Sakatsu rested her head upon his shoulder and sobbed silently. “I’m sorry..” she whispered.

Lily stood and dusted off her knees. “Dai! Sakatsu!” she cried running toward them. When she reached them, Lily leaned forward on her knees and caught her breath. “Are you two alright?”

Sakatsu slowly pulled away from Daisuke and nodded slightly. Still on her knees, she was afraid to look either in the eye. “Thank you, for saving me, Mod.”

Daisuke dipped his head under her chin and smiled up at her. “I’m not just a Mod you know, I’m a person too. My name’s Daisuke, what’s yours?”

“Sakatsu,” she said smiling. She wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. “Thank you for saving me…Daisuke.”

“Sakatsu-sama!” a small boy cried running toward them.

“Pablo…” said Sakatsu, sliding her foot forward to stand up.

“Sakatsu-sama! They’re approaching, Sakatsu-sama! I spotted them heading toward the clearing of cherry blossoms!” The little boy looked frantic and pale. “They’ve found us!”

“Go alert everyone in the village for battle stations. Anyone who can fight needs to report here within minutes got it?” The little boy nodded and ran past them. Sakatsu slammed the palms of her fist against her eyes and rubbed them hard. “This is no time for sympathy.” Her eyes were red when she pulled her hands away. “You two need to head back to NL.”

Lily shook her head. “No way. I told you I’d stop this war and I never break my promises!”

Daisuke nodded and started to run toward the edge of the village. “Lily’s right. We can’t just sit here and do nothing. Sakatsu, stall your troops for as long as you can. We’ll take it from here. Come on, Lily.”

Lily’s face turned bright as a big, toothy smile crept along her face. “Right!” she exclaimed running toward him.

When Lily was at his side, Daisuke ran with her through the bushes and back into the forest. “What I don’t get is,” Daisuke said while jumping over a low branch, “how exactly did they find the village? When I left we had no idea where the Crimson Village was located.”

As they reached the Forest of Cherry Blossoms, they stopped in the clearing and looked around. “The little boy said he spotted them heading here.” Replied Lily, looking around.

Lily and Daisuke turned when they heard a soft chuckle and a soft clapping. Tallion approached through the trees and into the clearing. “Thank you, Daisuke. Not only did we receive a perfect clear view of the trash heap but also a complete lock on the target at hand. You saved us a lot of time.”

“What do you mean?” hissed Daisuke. Tallion merely smiled and tapped his red triangle on his chocker. “You used me?!” Daisuke looked over at Lily, her lips were parted slightly, her eyes screamed confusion. “I had no idea, Lily!”

“I really expected better of you, Daisuke, I really did.” Tallion walked a small circle around them as others from NC started to gather. “You really didn’t think I’d let some little hussy talk down to me like that then let her walk away unharmed did you?”

“If you’d get off your fat head, I wouldn’t have to talk down to trash like you!” snapped Lily. “And to think I’m sitting here preaching about how there is good in everyone. You make me sick!”

The corner of Tallion’s lip quivered. “Do you know who you’re talking to, peasant?”

“Do I care?” Lily put her hands on her hips and eyed Tallion, daring him to live up to his threat. “I came here to stop this useless bloodshed that you’re so dead-bent on starting. You’re nothing but a useless pig, selling out your fellow brethren so you don’t have to go to the slaughter house yourself.”

An Admin staff materialized in Tallions right hand. He waved it in front of Lily’s face. “I’d watch that tongue of yours, wench.”

Lily opened her mouth to say a comeback when Daisuke stepped in between them. “Tallion, I don’t give a damn about your position compared to mine. But if you even think of touching Lily.” Daisuke grabbed Tallion’s Admin Staff and squeezed tight until his knuckles turned white. “I’ll kill you.” The Admin Staff snapped in half. It fell, along with Tallion’s pride, to the dirt below their feet.

Tallion jumped back. “You barbarian!” Tallion waved the bottom half of his Staff, or what was left of it, at Daisuke. “I’ll have you de-Modded before you can even spit.”

Daisuke gripped onto the square around his neck. “I’ll do it for you. God forbid if a tool like you breaks a nail.” With some struggle he ripped the chocker off his neck. A ring of blood slowly rained down along his neck and dripped down his arm. He threw the chocker to the ground and stepped on the green square. “I quit.”

“Daisuke!” cried Lily. “You’re bleeding!”

Tallion threw back his head and laughed. “What an idiot! Now you don’t even have enough power to back up your threats. You’re completely worthless now.” Tallion tapped the jagged end of his staff against the back of his heel. After the second tap, the Admin Staff regenerated. “And to think you actually seemed scary with all that big talk earlier.”

Daisuke swayed slightly and Lily grabbed onto him to keep him up and steady. “Dai!”

“I’m alright. I’ve just used a lot of energy recently with Sakatsu and de-Modding myself. I’ll be ok, don’t worry, I’ll protect you.” He gently laid his hand upon hers.

“Because of your position in NL, I can’t ban you.” Tallion, playfully, tapped the tip of Admin Staff against his open palm. “But that doesn’t mean we can’t have a little fun right?”

Lily ripped off a piece of her shirt and pressed it against Daisuke’s bleeding neck. “He’s wounded already you jerk!” she cried, staring bloody daggers at him through her deep brown eyes. “I know you get off making innocents suffer, but I won’t let you touch Daisuke! You hear me?!”

Tallion merely smiled and spun his Admin Staff above his head, trying to show everyone his awesome moves as if he’s some big-shot. “This whole time you’ve been calling me a worthless pig. Talking down to me, degrading a high-ranking officer such as myself.” He leaned forward, still smiling. “Who’s worthless now hmm?”

Lily returned the playful smile. “Still you.”

Tallion grabbed Lily’s arm and jerked her to the side. “I’ll show who’s really worthless!” Tallion cried, aiming his Admin staff at Daisuke. A ball of yellow energy started to slowly grow bigger and bigger at the tip of his staff.

“Daisuke!” cried Lily jumping up and throwing herself in front of Daisuke. She gripped hard onto the sides of the Admin staff, her left hand burning. She hissed out the pain through her gritted teeth as she pressed all her weight onto the staff. “I won’t let you hurt him and I meant it.” She spat in his face as the two struggled.

“Le…Let go!” Tallion cried thrashing his body around trying to shake the crazy girl off of his staff. “Let go I say!” Tallion cried as small balls of energy shot around them. Many of the Mods had to duck in order to miss getting hit. Trees exploded into a rage of fire.

“I won’t let you hurt Daisuke just like I won’t let you hurt innocent people!” Lily followed her body with his, trying to hold on the best she could. She was at a disadvantage because Tallion was much taller and stronger then her. She soon lost control of her body and just followed with the thrashing of the staff, gripping until the color drained from her knuckles and face.

“Why do you care?!” cried Tallion.
