Maybe you didn't give permission, but you condoned the act by not bothering to demote Grimm for snooping around and stumbling on a joke. It's not like he knew he would find that, he wasn't reading her private shit in hopes of protecting/benefiting NL. So, it would have been more fair to demote them both.
