Everyone knew the dangers of working with vampires. They were untrustworthy ninety per cent of the time and nearly indestructible and with there god like talents they were the ultimate hunters of there natural prey, humans. So when the day came for Senaru to be placed in a school named after its founders the Senzure and Kazuto Mataro stood up on the wooden stage in front of the ensemble of humans who were all fourteen years old and in the middle of one of the largest forests known to man kind, not What about you your powers are vast and amazing I’ve never seen anything like you in my two hundred years. Because of its length from the middle outwards but because of the size of the trees which were all about fifty metres high and had a width of about nine metres at there base. This is where the selection process would take place for those the school deemed worthy of succession into there noble halls.
Kazuto cleared his throat and began his speech, “As you all know over the last two thousand years vampires have waged war against humanity resulting in the loss of many great warriors. Well that war is finally at an end as we have made a truce with the vampires of the Ketsumaru tribe. Many of you may wonder what this truce entails.”
There was a stirring amongst the crowd as people fidgeted and looked confused.
“Well very simply they have requested the right to take part in the training of our youth and that there youth are to become a part of our training as well.”
This caused mutters to go throughout the small crowd of roughly seventy people who were sitting or standing in the small clearing. Everyone knew that it was a pun because there were no young vampires they may look no more than thirteen or fourteen but in reality they were all at least over one hundred years old and extremely volatile. There had been no knew vampires in over one hundred years as the vampires had refused to change anymore humans because of there own numbers and the fear that the separate tribes would turn against each other, so rather than building there numbers they made truces with the other tribes because of the threat of other immortals and humans. This was the first truce they had ever made with humans.
“For those of you who wish to know how many have joined us this year should look to there right.”
