katanas are more durable than any clyamore or longswords of the european style...
and btw, a claymore or 2 hand sword was mostly used to demolish the heavy armor of the knights in medieval times...so they were not intended to cut through flesh...
katanas could cut through flesh for half a year and would not break if properly handled and cared for...
