We're talking about zombies. Gotta destroy the brain or severe the head. You're going to be hitting some bone, and pretty often. I'd rather have something that can crush armor, since then it can also crush skulls. Over something designed to cut flesh, since most flesh wounds are ineffective against zombies.

If we're talking about non-armored, one-on-one melee combat against a normal human then I'd maybe pick a katana.

If sword and shield, spear, halberd, etc. aren't available. Fucking weeaboos. =p
