It's about a fictional government agency (CTU, Counter Terrorist Unit). Every season is formatted in a such a fashion that the agency must thwart a threat over 24 hours (hence the name 24), and every episode takes place in "real time" and comprises an "hour" of that 24. The crisis takes place along a few different character threads, but the main thread is with Jack Bauer, an ex Special Forces operative, who will do anything to get the job done.
