Unless it has changed recently, possession of marijuana in Canada will get you up to 6 months for <1oz. or 5 years for >1oz. However, I think the average cop will turn blind eye to "recreational" smokers.

To put into perspective how ridiculous Canada's sentences are: You could theoretically be in jail longer for possessing a few ounces of weed than for raping someone. And last time decriminalization was discussed it was halted almost immediately because of pressure from the US, to my memory.
