Fuck, I do that with almost everything. Browser tabs, little rubber bands you get if you buy something that's bundled, hard drive boxes (they're so neat and usually have nothing printed on them... think I can use it for later storage, never have) and so on. I think I have about 150 pens in my room alone...
In games with quests it's sometimes worse because I always wonder if I'll maybe need this item for later on for a quest or for personal use and arghhhhh, Fallout 3 was annoying because of all the shit I wanted to carry back to sell but couldn't, and would sometimes store it in near by chests and then never bother going back for it.
