I think it was said somewhere that Roger disbanded his crew right before he turned himself in. I'm not 100% sure his crew knew about his intentions. I mean, they knew he was sick and all, but I'm not sure they knew he was going to turn himself in like that. Only person that's confirmed to have known about it beforehand was Whitebeard.

Edit: On a separate note, I do sometimes wonder if any of Rogers crew died on their journeys. Or if not were any of them hunted down by the WG after they disbanded. It just seems odd that no other "big name" crew members have ever been mentioned. I also suspect that Shakky has some past connection to the Roger pirates.
