The comparison is so hilariously flawed.
Homer's epics were spoken, not written, and were turned into text much later (some even argue the transcripts were produced centuries later). So Homer pretty much had only his memory to rely on (which can be tricky as everybody knows) and some of the continuity fuck-ups might even be due to those who produced the transcripts, not Homer himself.
Kishimoto writes every week with a team that assists him, he must have notes, either on a notebook or in the pc, he must have access to the web where are literally dozens of freeware that helps keep track of his writing. And he STILL fucks up.
I'm sorry, just because Homer's writing has continuity hiccups is no excuse whatsoever for anybody else.
