Just like it's stupid that we have a bunch of derps who don't know shit about economics or logic or anything vote for people based on their economic policies and shit. I'm not that smart, so I dunno a better system. I am, however, a huge man-child who really likes science fiction and videogames, so I'd suggest and support AI overlords.
Well, the closest thing to democracy that I think would fix that problem would be giving rates to the voters based on schooling degree and overall knowledge of a specific theme, provided by doing tests some time before the elections and make the vote be heavier the better the rate of that person is.
For example, let's say you want to pass a bill based on Economics. People who didn't complete high school and don't know that much about it would get 1 and so on, all the way to someone that belongs to the NPA and is working as an economist would get like 2.5.
For elections that don't fit into a theme, like presidential elections, the average of all rates would do nicely, so that way someone ignorant of how their own country works and/or should work wouldn't be as relevant as someone who knows their shit.
Of course some people would cry foul over it but there's a simple solution: getting educated. They don't even have to get PhD's, they'd only need to demonstrate they know very well what the fuck they're voting for.

Too late, I already watched those many months ago and rewatched them last Sunday. But I do recommend them, specially the "trouble" video. I also recommend, from the same channel, the gerrymandering and voting system videos.

Brunei does not currently levy any income tax on individuals or other bodies of persons, apart from companies.
There are no social security taxes in Brunei.
- There are no (major) political parties because the Sultan has full executive power and the parlament members are all appointed by the Sultan himself. In other words, the Sultan can do whatever shenanigans he wants.
- It refuses to present data on income inequality
- Male homosexuality is illegal
- Sharia law is upheld above regular law
- No porn
Sorry, that's not exactly what I'd call the best country in the world.
