If bijuu are born from the juubi's power... which is nature energy of the earth, (which explains how they can maintain their power... using as much power as they please without needing external means like food to recharge their power and never actually die...) then their very lives are connected to the earth as well... Because their own power is connected to the life of the earth itself... thus by destroying the earth could very well destroy the juubi and bijuu IMO...
That very well could be Oro's scroll plan too, IMO... take away the bijuu and the juubi by taking away or control of the nature energy source from the planet and Oro could control the war as well as the world.... or sasuke and hawk by using the scroll...
It's most likely a technique of senjutsu... Sealing the nature energy of the earth to harness it or even redirecting it to another dimension so the bijuu cannot use it to use it to be reborn... so after they die, they stay dead... perhaps even create a new bijuu from the immense energy... but that sounds a little complicated...
