Obviously pointing out that during their battle, hashirama gained control of the kyuubi, but in order to aid him... Mito sealed it within her own body...
How would sealing the kyuubi aid hashirama, but during the fight when it was mentioend ti happen??? Oh yea, and the "during their fight" then no breaking up the feat of seaking the kyuubi by Mito from hashirama gaining control of it really makes it sound like mito did it during the battle...
