Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28
Ahhh, I see. You wanted movies that Ben Affleck made watchable above anyone else in the movie? Well, shit. We could have this argument for days (and quite frankly, the interplay between Damon and Affleck is the only reason to watch Dogma. It's pretty great. They also had the best scene in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, which was horrible in every sense). I pretty much listed watchable moves with Ben Affleck, meaning he didn't wreck them.
Which comes down to another point - the acting required for Batman and Superman is minimal. They are carried by special effects, dialogue and, most importantly, the villains. They are good guys who save the day. For all our love of Batman, his story is pretty cut and dry and it is the fact that he has awesome villains that raises his appeal. Why was the Dark Knight one of the best Batman films? Heath Ledger.
But hey, if you think Ben can't lower his voice to sound serious and menacing and THAT will be what ruins a Superman Movie (Remember, this is a Superman Movie. They all pretty well suck), good luck to you, sir. I would direct you to the best Batman of all time, Kevin Conroy, and note he didn't need to do a lot in the terms of voice alteration to make his Batman believable and distinct from Bruce Wayne. Surely not as far as Bale went.
