some people think its his hair color. i dunno i was thinking of researching it or something sometime lol
edit:::
here is kinda what i found online at some random places...
"I read somewhere once that Bleach was a reference to the band Nirvana's first record entitled "Bleach". Considering how big of a music fan Kubo Tite is, it makes sense to me that the title would be music oriented. Also, Nirvana (the band and the word) have several key meanings that could probably all apply to the show in one way or another. The largest thing that sticks out in my mind is the obvious connection between Nirvana and the afterlife. But at the same time, the band brings the whole concept of not conforming. So, if it is a case where it's a nod towards Nirvana, I think the title takes on a great deal of depth that can really be analyzed."
"Well, I haven't found any "authorized" evidence of where exactly the name Bleach comes from, but these two links point to the possibility that it either has to do with Ichigo's hair color or removing the death from the living world.
• Why Bleach? (

• Bleach Anime!!! (

P.S. - quick question. I Know it's called BLEACH due to Ichigo's hair, but doesn't he tell that one guy that it is in fact his natural hair color? He doesn't seem like the kinda guy who would lie about something like that....so why call it BLEACH if he really doesn't Bleach

?
Those search results are rather cursory though. Cheers.
EDIT: I found another link that might be of interest:
• Why is Bleach called Bleach? (

Will this question ever die!
Bleach is called bleach because...
** Ichigo [main character with orange hair] has Bleached her (hair).
** When Rukia transferrd how powers to Ichigo her shinigami [death god] bloths wenr from black to white
**When a hollow is slayn by a soul cutter/slayer it's sins as a hollow are washed away and it is sent to soul society (if it was a sinner before death it goes to hell)
I think it's his hair....the other theories seem to be conjecture at best."
"My take always was it was about "bleaching out" evil spirits."
"Personally, I think it's called Bleach because it represents a lot of things.
He says early on that his senpais hated him because they thought he bleached his hair, meaning that his hair was fake. "
"think "Bleach" is refering to the male lead indirectly, like why "Naruto" was named "Naruto".
Ichigo bleached his hair to orange right? No, read the thread and you'll know"
THATS WHAT I FOUND ONLINE
