It's not good to think of it as a 'science vs. faith' thing as if those are the only two options. It's not as if science fails to explain something then faith must be right by default then. It doesn't work that way.

The first half of Descartes' First Meditations is good, but most of everything else is pretty crappy. Worth the read if you're interested in philosophy, and are really, really bored. ; )
