Private Section

Alright guys, an idea was brought to my attention, so I'm relaying it here to see if it's something the majority of you would like to see be implemented.

Basically it's a private section where certain members are allowed to post and have more in-depth and meaningful conversations with other members who are allowed in. I haven't decided yet if posts will count or not to your post count. If they were to count, then all rules would be enforced there, and if not then once it becomes just another Spam Zone, it would be deleted.

The specifics haven't been discussed yet as I'd rather wait to see if this is something that is wanted by you guys.

Lastly, I want to make this very clear to everyone, the general consensus is that the way members will be allowed access to this new section is by having the current members vote whether or not said member should be granted access. Thus in effect making it similar to a popularity contest. So again, I warn you guys that if this is goes forward, alot of you will not be allowed in until you "prove" yourself to those select few who can let you in.

For the record, I am against this sort of thing, but if it's something you guys would like to have, then I'll make it happen.

Lastly, I really want the Mods' opinion on this.

I'd have to say no. This is what you have fanclubs for, correct? Why not have people make up a fanclub for this? A forum that's been slow lately isn't helping making matters any better by excluding any of the newer members. Just doesn't seem fair.

This is not a good idea quite frankly. I can see all the flame wars this would create. This is an anime forum for crying out loud, not a strip club. If people want to have "deeper, more meaningful" conversations, they should click the magic blue button under their username.

two other forums i go to have this kinda thing...

on one, members get in for making at least 200 USEFUL/QUALITY posts

on the other, you get in depending on seniority and popularity, a bit more like the idea presented here

i find that there are NO "in-depth and meaningful conversations" in it lol [i was invited in due to my contribution to the site as a retired staff member on it]...its more of, "popular" kids get in and everyone else is excluded and its basically a spam zone for them lmao...i dont feel that its right to exclude someone just cause they arent "popular" and whatever...no one wants to be an ass kisser to get in...i hope XD

so i say no to the idea

I will also look towards those that also support this, and smile upon them. For they, too, can surely see the great justice and win found within this idea!

Well.

It would give newer members more incentive to be accepted by the community, and would in turn encourage "better" posting. In theory.

I agree with M48 on this one. Acitivity is a goal here and even being an anime forum, it's a forum none the less. Yes there will be those that go boo-woo about not being in it, but hey they should up their activity and make themselves shine. I'm not saying spam the hell out of places but post meaningful shit. I myself really have no room to talk about that since I very rarely post here except when something peeks my interest. But yes this is a good Idea.

I dont know,I mean if somone want in and they start acting right to gain popularity they get in.Well what if they just go back to there old ways after getting in,can they be voted out?I support it if we can vote people out,if not,then I dont support.

Explain how it's flame bait.

I mean, if you're thinking the people allowed in will boast about it and cause hatred, that's not how it's going to work because anyone who boasts about it shouldn't be the type allowed in anyway. Or, if someone not allowed in is jealous of another member, well, the super-cool-awesome post zone exists to escape from those exact people.
