Next series, not included in the manga series

The Naruto anime series as we know it will come to an end tomorrow with Episode 135 of the series which is entitled: The Promise That I Could Not Keep - airing on television sets across Japan. After this episode the series will continue on to a filler sidestory which was not included in the manga series that the anime is based off of, to allow the manga series to proceed forth.

It is not known how long this filler arc will be but one can bet that it will last at least a couple of months, and after that the Naruto anime series will move on to the much awaited Kakashi Gaiden and Part 2!

So enjoy the next series!

It seems kind of silly that there is going to be a new arc, because unless I am mistaken the reason everyone thought the manga went on hiatus for a while was so that the anime could catch up. I don't know if that reason has changed or what, but if that is the case why not just continue with the manga and let the anime catch up. I am not saying that it is a good idea for the anime to catch up but I am just curious of the reason for the hiatus in the manga.
