This is epic.....

Okay, using some videos I will show you the difference between the headbanging, death metal and the artsy, Avant-Garde Metal.

Techinical Death Metal:

Black Seeds of Vengeance (Live) by Nile

Blackened Death Metal:

Demigod by Behemoth
___________________________________

Avant-Garde Metal:

It is Not Sound by Ulver

Post-Metal: (Very closely related to Avant-Garde Metal.)

In Fiction (Live) by Isis and I know the band is headbanging, but look at the audience compared to Nile's audience.

Re: This is epic.....

ahh i get what you're trying to explain

the fancy kind of "metal" (i don't like to call it that) is boring and people don't seem to amuse themselves

the real shit kicks serious butt and people go crazy over it

-cheers

Re: This is epic.....

Nope I am not trying to say that at all. In fact I love the fancy stuff more than the headbanger stuff. What I am trying to say is that metal is such a broad term. I mean look how different the styles are. In my opinion metal should be a dead term by now because it is too general.

Re: This is epic.....

I really can't concentrate listening to that headbanger stuff. The "singers" voice is just too distracting. Seems to cover up the music.

The avant-garde stuff is pretty good though.

Yeah I started out like that. When you first start out listening to death metal you sometimes have to play around with the equalizer so that you can hear all the instruments. My favorite preset is Jazz.

yea i like that setting too

but on the more melodic stuff, i like to put it on classic...

well i just tamper with it untill i get a good sound

and yea redneckdude, i was kidding about the lameness of avantgarde

i went to a festival once, and the closing band played that sort of music

man it was relaxing as hell

I like ISIS. I am a big fan of shredding in metal, but none of that death crap.

That's why I don'[t like the majority of SoaD's stuff, I hate their vocals. But the more symphonic, avant-garde metal is definitely better (as it's the only metal of the two that's good).
